Originally on the creators wanted him to be a one time only charachter so the novelty would not wear off and he would not turn into a jobber
The only time he jobed classic Marvel was when he and all the other comics got improsoned by IG thanos which was justifiable as it was to hype the gauntlet

Got turned into a glorified pet by Franklin Richards
Got defeated by King Thor
Got destroyed by Hyperion
