That's actually a great question

One Piece is my favorite animanga by a country mile and it definitely has some super hype moments but the most hype? I'm not sure

It might be Toriyama tbh. That OG Super Saiyan transformation is really really REALLY hard to beat. It also has some of the best quotes too

"Let me ask you, does a machine like yourself ever experience fear?"

I'd give it to Toriyama

This is a battle between Toriyama, Oda, Kishimoto and Tite.

Tournament arcs, transformations, ninjutsu, Haki, Bankai, powerups - none of these contemporary mfers can fw them.

They didn't do it long enough or consistently enough.

That's the only thing Gege does well tbh
Surely you don't think he does it better than the other names on this list?

Oda tbh. That's basically what carried One Piece from the start, bunch of "Don!" moments. That's why there isn't any One Piece arc or fight that transcends the series but One Piece was still able to captivate readers.

It's through moments like "Nothing happened" or Sanji telling Enel thanks for the light, Luffy putting the hat on Nami while the strawhats were posing, Usopp shooting down the WG flag while the straw hats are lined up etc. One Piece has iconic scenes not arcs or fights, that is the dead giveaway.

Probably not but in my opinion he has mastered the art of the clifhanger at least on par as the others.
The Culling Games were dozens of consecutive chapters of nothing but nailbiting cliffhanger after another. Before Gojo vs Sukuna even started.

Fair enough.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the only thing keeping Gege out of the club is longevity imo.

Like, yeah Naruto and Bleach had a decline towards the end, but they were still delivering on hype moments, and their declines didn't begin until muuuuuch later in the game.

Modulo is further proof Gege can whip up hype quickly, but landing is another question.

Yeah, we agreed on this on multiple ocassions before.
As long as Gege doesn't have to land he can keep flipping and flopping and hyping about mid-air.

His character work does a lot of the heavy lifting, imo.

It's how quickly he makes you give a fuck - for better or worse - that adds weight to the hype.

He's better at it than any of the other names mentioned.

Dragon ball z and its not even close.

Nothing hits to this day for me like gohan going ssj2 for the first time (and his one handed finish on cell)
