Except if he got killed off him coming back is a matter of chapters with how we saw the regen working.
That said I don't see what his role even would be at this point, Robin and the kids got free and we know there are characters much stronger than him on the island, his threat level is basically nonexistent.

Btw the whole scene and Luffy praising Zoro felt weird. It kind of came out of nowhere, Sommers wasn't even insulting him. I guess the whole scene is meant to keep us second guessing what is about to happen.

I could totally see Sommers getting back up and attacking the kids again, only to be stopped by Sanji. Protecting the kids is Nami and Gaban's top priority, Sanji should have stepped in to save them here
