I came up with a theory alongside @Paperchampion23 that the Earth God was the old King of Elbaph, and Elbaph was a nation of warmongering tyrants and used to enslave humanity.
Which fits the whole "elbaph gotta pay for their sins and history, etc, etc, etc".
