Controversial Is Oda unpredictable or predictable?

People say we can never guess what Oda will do because he's a genius and he is doing storytelling that has never been done before.

Is this really true?

I think he is usually more unpredictable than predictable, and people saying otherwise are just not being honest, because it's always easy to say looking back things like "yeah, I totally expected this to happen".
Whether you like the twists or not, it's factual that Oda is unpredictable.
No one expected Gear 5.
Whether you like it or not, that's another question.
But it was unpredictable, and no one expected such a power up after 1000+ chapters.
But there are lot of dishonest people who won't admit that Oda is unpredictable

Lore Piece wouldn't be as big as it was if he was predictable.

When Oda wants the audience to have a chance, I think he makes it more obvious.

Like Sanji being prince. A lot of people were on that early.

There are shounen tropes and general island arc steps, which makes me expect certain things to happen. But the question is "how", as "how is really unpredictable.
Example: do we know for sure Luffy will get a power up? Yes. Could anyone predict Nika Looney tunes Piece? Not really.
Same with the island arcs. We can always expect some conflict happening and the island either being better off after SHP visit (Alabasta, Skypeia, Wano, Dressrosa), or nor really but the SHP goal was reached (WCI, Enies Lobby, Sabaody#2).

That's why it is a mix, but in general I lean mostly to "unpredictable", because there's still so much we don't know lore-wise, and the particulars of expected events are also not always clear.

Unpredictable imo. In both good ways and bad ways. I thought he would give each old gen different haki specialization but all are basically the same. Also no awakenings for yonkos.
