Nothing we've ever seen has really changed my mind on this. I mean, we saw Old Gaban, Prime Gaban, and GV Gaban in one arc, and Old Gaban honestly looked the best.

It's been like 1200 chapters, and we know from that SBS that Oda wants to make old people look good in OP. At the very least, I don't think you lose Haki with age.

But anyway, my point is that the VC creator wasn't really trying to give a lore drop or some shit, they were just going off the manga, where Garp's Haki doesn't particularly look any worse when he's old, and everyone sees him as a threat still. It's not that deep.

I've been telling people, Old versions receive a buff. It's essentially the best version of the character.

This thing people do where they see how strong the old legend is and try to multiply their strength factoring in their prime simply doesn't work because Oda draws them impressive because they are old.

Again, you're essentially using character statements that aren't even necessarily that reliable beyond anything else.

If Prime Gaban could one shot Super Sommers, he would just have killed Super Sommers. Because he could hit him, and then hit him while Super Sommers is regenerating. We know that Super Sommers would lose badly to Gaban, but his DF is enough to stall Gaban a bit so he can escape.

It's no coincidence that we hear all of this boasting from Gaban, Ray, Garp, WB etc, but we didn't from HK Harald(who would be in his 70s in human years iirc) and the Gorosei. It's because they aren't boastful in that way in general lol.

Lmao, I don't think they're deliberately being dishonest, I think they're exaggerating and to some extent genuinely believe it, like irl old people, and to some extent they probably did decline in base non Haki stats. Certainly, from what we've seen, Old Garp is essentially treated like prime Garp:

Old Garp destroys a lot of pirate island, prime Garp destroys half of Mf, and helps sink GV
Prime Garp was like a demon to pirates who we see everyone get scared of/when Old Garp gets taken out, Blackbeard wonders who else could have done it but Kuzan, implying that in both situations, very few characters could have beaten him.
