This definitely feels like Orochimaru's counterpart to Jiraiya's imperfect Sage Mode. We know dragons in Naruto are heavily associated with snakes, being superior to them. Kabuto even claims his perfected sage mode allows him to become a dragon from a snake.

Pretty strongly agree with this, it should allow him to deal with sage mode, and it being mentioned as the embodiment of his work is interesting. I guess insofar as it represents his obsession with eternal life and his parents?

It should also be a counter to Kisames swordsmanship at least
