I think a lot of haters of AI art do not understand the complexity involved in using AI tools. As an engineer, I’ve kinda sorta been forced to use these types of tools.
So I can say without a doubt, yeah, AI art is definitely real art. Engineering context to create a defined output is a skill. Designing workflows and programming is a skill.
These are not skills completely detached from regular art skills. In fact a master of conventional art will be even better at using AI tools for art than a non-artist. As they will be able to use their own hand-crafted art as context.
Certainly there is a lot of AI slop. But that doesn’t inherently mean AI art is not Art.
