Controversial AI art is real art

I think a lot of haters of AI art do not understand the complexity involved in using AI tools. As an engineer, I’ve kinda sorta been forced to use these types of tools.

So I can say without a doubt, yeah, AI art is definitely real art. Engineering context to create a defined output is a skill. Designing workflows and programming is a skill.

These are not skills completely detached from regular art skills. In fact a master of conventional art will be even better at using AI tools for art than a non-artist. As they will be able to use their own hand-crafted art as context.

Certainly there is a lot of AI slop. But that doesn’t inherently mean AI art is not Art.

The same discussion happened when digital art started to take over. Old Gen are a bunch of butt hurted afraid of new Gen.

Only

- Stealing
- Destructions of the environment
- Destructions of lives linked to the exploitation of the south global
- A lack of understanding of what makes art appealing in the first place.

Oh I accept things that you wouldn't even dare imagine. AI is not one of them at the moment. It's an archaic and destructive technology. It's backward in the sense that it LITERALLY makes the world go backward.

This technology is nothing impressive. It's a simple magic trick make us to believe in intelligence. It's nothing of the sort. It's an imitation of language. It doesn't work, is not fiable, is completely uncontrolled, and most of all, it makes us go backward instead of forward.

Completely stripping us of our ability to differenciate reality from fiction. It's literally - in its nature - a technology of anti-progress.

And i'm not even talking about the problem of ethics (exploitations of workers, destructions of the environment, destruction of lives, dumbing down, destruction of our capacity to think ou educate in a safe environment.

It's desorganized chaos, intended as capitalist means of profit. Its problematic for everyone but billionnaires and tech bros who don't understand that they are digging their graves by overusing this tool.

As for art, well, ask anyartist why they make art and why people like art and you will understand why people don't like AI, even when it does something as technically good as a master artist.

Art is not about what, it's about why. Tech bros and people who think being an artist is easy will never understand that. I don't want to create because I want to make pretty picture or pretty stories or earn cash. I want to create because if I'm not doing it. I'm dying from the inside because I have too many things to express.

Mate, you don't understand.. There is no "growing". AI LLM are language models. They feeds on what they see and create only what they saw. Meaning that they also feed on what they creates.

See this as a genetic pool. What LLM are doing right now, is contineousely reducing the genetic pool. Simply because they can't create anything and people who use it can't either. At the end of the day, everything will be corrupted and unusable. No matter how hard you try. The only way you could coutner that if its LLM would keep feeding on human creations, but this won't happen for much longer.

People and compagnies are getting mad. And soon, the bubble will burst. And this. Is inevitable.

Well the only art i care about is music, and i have listened to some neat ai pieces tbh.

Archaic in the sense that it stands on archaic ideas and a simplified vision of creation but also intelligence. It's a figure of speech to show that technology that makes society go backward, is not a technology of progress.

I'm not questionning the fact that you liked what you hear. I'm just telling you what AI art is:

1. Unoriginal by nature
2. Unethical by nature
3. Uncreative by nature
3. Inhuman by nature
4. Meaningless by nature
5. Badly crafted by nature

"AI art" is the illusion of good. Said illusion can hold as long as you want to experience the illusion of art, but it's just an illusion. In details and in reality, it's just mud.

Art is about sharing.

When you listen to AI, you are alone with the poop of a machine. You can like poop if you want, it's ok. But it's poop and you are still alone in the exchange.

No AI "artist" can replicate this sharing principle, because to share you have to give. And an LLM AI bypasses this step. Generative AI art is like asking a machine to share something for you, it's not you creating, it's the machine... for you.

AI art negates the reason we make art in the first place:

Creating meaningfull bonds.
