As the title says, I don't think Harald really thought he was inferior to Ragnir and to be honest I always thought since the first time I read that chapter, that it was common sense. However time and time again I see that argument being used, hence why I decided to make this thread.

Long story short, it was already mentioned that the ones controlled by Imu have their very own thoughts altered, with Harald remarking it while in the process of losing his mind

Reason why he went from this

To this, with Loki even noticing the contradiction

So basically, in his true thoughts, he believed Loki could eat the fruit, and that he was the only one who could stop him after eating the fruit. But while influenced by Imu, due to wanting to eat it instead of Loki, he started spouting bullshit.

And this is due to Imu's influence altering his thoughts, believing his strength to be godly, superior to all other life forms

As a reminder, Harald eating the fruit protected by Ragnir was Rocks' original plan with it not happening simply because it was against Harald's dream

So no, Harald in the true state of mind never thought of himself to be inferior to Ragnir. Due to Harald's dream of wanting to turn giants into a pacifist kind beloved by other races, he never even cared about gaining more power, but was instead willing to become a slave of the world government if it allowed his kind to be better perceived by the world

Strongly agreed. If Oda wanted us to legitimately think Ragnir was>Harald, he could have had Ragnir overpower him or something early on in the flashback, or even in present times, have characters like Luffy, Gaban, even Sanji talk about how powerful it seems, like Oda has been doing with Loki.

The Harald statements got proven wrong on panel, when fruitless Loki made Ragnir submit to him for life in a single clash. I seriously doubt *fruitless* Loki could have done that to his father.

Idk why it’s so hard for people to accept that Harald isn’t a true swordsman
I dont care about the sword shit but that harald nerfing himself shit doesst make a lick of sense

Mind you harald was depicted as less sane than Xebec, who, even while fighting his enemies shown to mentally connect and talk to them, lmao
