I like Marineford the least, but removing the Arlong Park Arc mainly removes Nami's backstory, and it doesn't have as far-reaching effects or a bigger payoff than the others.
Worldbuilding at its best without any unnecessary dragging, major threats, major introductions, big players everywhere and real consequences. Drama done right.

Nah they were solid. Gives a nice sense of liveliness and competition to the pirate world. Before the Supernova it really did feel like the SHs were the only pirates actively travelling island to island.
But there was also the Celestial Dragons, the slaves, fishmen, Doffy's involvement, Rayleigh etc. lots of good worldbuilding stuff in that arc.

Oda had to came up with Supernova last second to make it at least interesting.
Luffy punched a celestial dragon and walked it off just fine. Rayleigh was there to protect from Kizaru and Kuma was helping them. Real consequences forcing everyone into a two year timeskip training to make new world look easy?
