Idk what will happen, but I always figured if blackbeard did eat a third fruit he would lose his mind and turn into a giant devil monster anyways regardless of what that fruit was. Anyone else think Tot Musicaa was basically what Blackbeard will turn into by end of series? Im even more emboldened now that the Devil Fruit is in the mix
I explained a symbolic reason. I believe BB already has the third DF, which explains Shanks Scar. As I said, this is not the Devil Fruit discussion, but this is about the meaning of everything that happened in the story. The right for revenge against Imu is not something that BB will be allowed to get. He is not MC. He doesn't represent real freedom.
But there are examples, when something like this happened in other stories: in ASOCIAF, Deny wasn't able to kill Robert Baratheon, Tywin Lanister, or defeat the Starks in the battle, at least in the TV GOT show. This was the reason why people were never on her side, because she was just overpowered, and no one was equal to her in power. Still in the earlier scenario, Martin didn't plan to make Deny as one of the main protagonists; instead, she was planned as the second main antagonist in the story, after the Lannisters, and she was supposed to be defeated in the second book.
But Oda is not Martin, and he put in the first place the symbolic meaning of everything is the main priority for him, aside from making MC and the Savior of the world. The main evil has to be defeated by the MC. The victory will never give you a feeling of satisfaction. Imu has to be defeated by Luffy at the right time.
