story-wise it really fell off due to a certain decision by Suzuki. The general concensus is that it was bad. Maybe your experience of it would be different.
The action is still as sleek as before. Currently at what should be the last arc.
personally I'm just reading it out of habit now. Not invested at all.

I do, however, wholeheartedly recommend Kagurabachi. No meme at all lol. Tough it out for the first volume and then enjoy the action.

Except for X being very underwhelming, Sakamoto Days still looks good. I mean, if you don't take this manga seriously and just enjoy the cinematography of it, there's nothing bad about it. But if you expect deep plot, meaningful character development and plausible explanations for the events...well, it's going to disappoint.

Think I stopped just after they have the first real big battle between the two forgot what they are called now swords. Sojo was the guy's name I think?
