Very cool. I think they might differentiate it from "nuclear" like in our world but the mother flame is a clear analogue to it, like ancient weapons seem to represent the idea of real world nuclear weapons
Pretty cool, have you read or watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind by chance? the historical backdrop to that manga is nuclear powered weapons/living beings that were given the names of gods to judge over humanity and blew it all up, making the world toxic. I think the ancient weapons might be a little based on that, and hear me out, Pluton in myth is the "earth god." he rules the underworld and everything underground is his domain as it was alloted between Poseidon, Pluton/Hades, and Zeus. Whether its literally nukes or an analogue, whatever weapon it can use to "annihilate an island in one shot" was probably involved in the red line, or blood stained/hellfire serpents creation in a manner like your theory.
Kind of like a nuclear submarine but tbh I think its power might be something more akin to the end points and dyna-stones from film Z, using magma/lava to destroy and make new islands. I feel like the idea of nukes is realllllly heavy in Japan right, maybe at this point its a little less but I think he will make it a clear analogue of "weapons that create toxins and destroy entire cities using an energy source that could be used for good" but not explicit. The dyna stones are a non canon item with immense energy that glow pink and can blow holes to the magma chambers below earth, to destroy the new world with lava. I think he is reusing/canon using this idea in the mother flame and ancient weapons. Lulusia drills a hole down to who knows where. How many of those holes until the earth erupts all over?
He drew what looks like a "Little Boy" falling on Big Mom, but he really focuses on the lava chamber (where Pluton may also be) being what kills her and kaido and its just treated as "a really strong bomb"
