One thing about Imu and Teach I should note is, Imu is a reactionary villain and Teach is a proactionary villain. When Luffy set out from Foosha, Imu won 800 years ago and is comfortably the World King where Teach was still a no-name member of Whitebeard's crew.

However, now we're at a point where Imu's iron grip on the world is starting to slip. The fact he had to personally intervene in Elbaf is a sign things aren't going so well. Much less the Holy Land being starved and nations revolting against the World Government.

But Teach? Well, Rocky Port got messed up a bit and Koby and Moria escaped, but hey, now he has a even more valuable prisoner in Garp. And Caribou is about to tell him about two Ancient Weapons.

So where things are finally start to go bad for Imu, Teach is still doing rather fine, no?
Not really
Hancock stuff got interupted by rayleigh
Law got Away with his pet bear.

"before x showed named attack" tier argument i'm afraid
C'mon Wiwi, that first part was precisely a jab at those kind of arguments.

The real argument is that Teach is gonna get a 3rd DF and Oda keeps blueballing on what he's gonna get, as he expressed interest in getting both Hancock's and Law's DFs.

Until Teach gets his 3rd DF, he isn't gonna be defeated by Luffy. And as we keep moving closer to the end, the options keep narrowing down. And wow, would you look at that, Imu in his current form has 3 horned skulls? Which character has been linked the most with 3 skulls? Hmmm, it eludes me.

Also, as I keep seeing people saying that Imu is an amalgam of all past Luffy arc opponents as an argument of why he's the final villain becauses he serves as a being that encapsulates everything that has come prior...

Wapol was an spoiled king with a group of 20 doctors (20 allied kingdoms) under his belt that could produce freakish creatures like Chessmarimo (Domi Reversi, the Elders' Yokai transformations) with his powers.

Who crushed Wapol and made him run away from Drum while searching for something there?

I don't see the thematic split as two, but four in One Piece.

- Good Marines/WG (order, saving people) = Represented by Sengoku, Tsuru, Garp
- Bad Marines/WG (power and kill anyone who disagrees) = CDs/Akainu

- Good Pirates (Freedom seeking sailors) = Luffy/Shanks
- Bad Pirates (Freedom that descends into anarchy) = Blackbeard/Davy Jones

Since this is a pirate manga, I don't think the ultimate thematic battle will be control vs. freedom as presented by Imu, but about different kinds of freedom.

Do you want the individualistic freedom to explore, wander, etc. like Luffy, or the freedom where there is no morality, no accountability, and everything descends into chaos. People can murder with no consequences. Just the strongest, or cunningest, survive. That's what Blackbeard represents.

I think Imu's backstory became clear. He wanted to stop the "bad freedom" brought on by the Davy family. The complete chaos that leads to anarchy and destruction. But I think ultimately he will fail, and it will be the "good freedom" that defeats, not control. That's why I think Luffy vs. BB will be the end.
Lumping Akainu with the CDs is very flawed. The seeds for his betrayal have already been sown.

Personally, I feel like Vivi won't be captured, and in fact, may play a part in his downfall.

After all, she is currently the guest of the biggest media mogul in the OP world. And a exclusive interview with her and Wapol exposing Imu's existence would be *very* Big News indeed.
Vivi was brought to the New World just for Imu. Reverie started just to make Vivi come to the New World. This is why I don't believe that she will remain at Morgan's place. She can even reunite with SH before Imu captures her.

I have to partially disagree. While her being captured *eventually* is a possibility, I feel she also has a role in organizing Luffy's side for him, as in the kingdoms who defect from the World Government in opposition to Imu.

She certainly would be a big help in getting this alliance created....then I suppose can be the abduction or what have you.

Well, for doing only that, there was no need to play this Cobra suicide mission. He wanted to ask questions since Arabasta, so you can say even if Wano and WCI were just filler arcs, Reverie and its outcome were in Oda's head from Arabasta

We're seeing Imu showcase his Devil's Fruit powers before even getting the reveal of Laffitte's DF name lol.

Oda shows in 1121 that Imu is just one more player in the chase for One Piece that is going to happen (and not even a major player going by panel distribution) but yeah, surely he's gonna be saved for last. Teach surely will be defeated before Lodestar or something.

Guess some people do read the manga upside down.
Yeah I’m sure buggy is a bigger player than Imu, the head of the WG, the main antagonistic force in the series, the villain who is diametrically opposite to Luffy’s freedom, the villain who has been in power for 800 years and ties to all the lore.

We know all the powers of the rest of BB’s crew so you had to single out lafitte whereas we don’t even who the majority of HKs are, much less their powers.
