The guy is already a dog to the CDs, we saw this when he was fighting Kuma.

I don't agree. Navy in common is not villains at all. Akainu is shown to be worried about Navy reputation and doing its work good. He is loyal to Navy the most, but he has to obey to the CDs because of existing hierarchy and he is a soldier after all. He believes he is just doing his job. But from we have seen almost every Admiral began doubting they are doing good things. Akainu the most important plotwise out of all Admirals that is why his case will be the most difficult due to his "absolute justice" as well. There are hints in my opinion that one who will convince him to lead Navy against WG is Dragon. Akainu was shown as he has some personal stuff against Dragon. Then we found out Dragon is the mariner in the past who disappointed in Navy. I think they will fight in the final each other but in the Dragon will be able to change Akainu's mind and rebel against WG because it's right.
