Also non sense to give only 16 slots to Europe,who should get at least 20 slots as they are the most powerful football continent. So at least this would improve a little the first phase,which i predict will be really boring with bad teams and easy to pass for the stronger teams (3 teams out of 4 in the groups qualify!)

We have Euro for that, it's a world cup, every continent should be well represented. The mistake was to have 48 nations qualified for it. Of course it's going to affect the general level.
But more games means more money, and that's all that seems to matter to FIFA.

Italy wouldn't improve, that's for sure. They have group elimination written on their foreheads.

It depends on what should be the target of the World Cup: having the whole world represented,or having the strongest teams of the world represented?
I think the second option would be better

Look, I agree that Curacao isn't the football juggernaut we would like to see at the WC. And smaller WCs bring about a better quality of football. All true.

But those teams you mentioned had their chance to qualify. They failed. Europe has enough representatives as is. Giving them more would just make this into a Euros-lite.
