But it's a fact, he's ugly.
The thing is he's charming, he has that charisma that compensates for his ugliness and makes him seem awesome without having an aesthetically pleasing face. And the nature of his power is so versatile and interesting, the way his presence changes the environment, that he generates countless fanarts even though he has Adam Sandler's skin.
Blackbeard needed to be like this, but Oda failed in this aspect of him. He just looks like a clumsy, smelly, dirty, and lazy fatso. There's nothing about his presence that compensates for his ugly appearance.
