I dont have an issue with the flashback but the timing is ridiculous.and I think its because Oda has no idea how to resolve this arc. Just like GRRM, he's set up all these intricate plots and has no idea how to bring it all together so he stalls. There is no reason for this flashback to be included now.
Its not a timing thing for me now, this is the final saga, the manga is supposed to move at break neck speed. All the buildup has been for this climax. I just want flashbacks that have deep lore connecting the past with the present. No sad backstories anymore. I can accept a Nami backstory because her origins are mostly a mystery. If Brooks flashback ties up to something huge in present then ita okay.
I guess I am just being impatient though. If we go by how long villains have fought then a lot of shit is gonna happen between now and Imus defeat. Kaidos fight in Onigashima started around 980-990s or something IIRC and ended near 1150. Thats a 60-70 chapter spread I think. For the FV it can be even more, its been 3-4 chapters since Imu entrance?

Breaks are what make it really annyoing to me me, I'd have much less issue with a sudden flashback if I knew I didn't have to wait 2 weeks every 2 chapters (with time where we only have like one chapter a month if there also a magazine break)
