This flashback is really cool. I see parallels to recent Loki's but also Bonney's flashbacks. The last double page for me is peak One Piece.
We still don't know how Leuven took power and became king. That's around the time he married Candel. I have a feeling he made a pact with Imu around that time, for whatever reason, like Harald. And then he turned around for Gunko. I think the WG didn't ask for 1000 slaves, just for Gunko, and he refused. That was enough for him to fight DR, until Gunko submitted and he gave up. Something like that.

This is more a Gunko flashback than a Brook flashback I feel.
This is almost the same flashback as Loki (featuring Brook instead of Rocks) in terms of family structure (if Candel is indeed shady), but with opposite uprising (Gunko was pampered and protected and loved and almost bratty, while Loki was thrown out a fucking cliff at birth lol), and parallel but different endings (both killing their father, one submitting and the other resisting with style, and both still in awe of their childhood idol).
This might hint at a Brook/Rocks link or not, I don't know. His run through marines and face off with Imu was reminiscent of Rocks' run through MJ.
Regarding the Bonney's parallel (if they exist), with maybe an unknown father but a loving and protecting daddy, this might also end like Kuma instead of like Harald. Leuven might not be dead, and he might be the man marked with flame, stealing a poneglyph as a fuck you to Imu and avoiding him by sailing a broken ship. Whirlpools might be linked to Davy Jones and he might be a Davy... We don't know.
I feel like Oda is on fire but the breaks are kind of killing the momentum.
The art on the last double page is spectacular. Mars in the corner is so awkward yet terrifying. The unknown HK (?) in the back too. Brook is in hell like Sabo was, but we get to see it.

Once she's grown up, the government turns on Esperia to pressure Leuven into giving her up. He refuses, and we see what happens in the chapter.

What is it now? Why make the comparision between characters with plenty of ambition who trained their asses off to imply same logic should apply to HK, just to pretend next post the complete opposite?
Yes , Gunko is stronger than that squirrel which only deemed Loki worthy and currently is clashing with Imu - who is presumably using his real body

Let's look at it from a motivation based perspective. People are saying the motivation for the Holy Knights, Five Elders, and Imu being active on Esperia is to provide Imu with a vessel.
I see a couple problems with that.
1) It would mean a Celestial Dragon took a decades long double agent role (Queen Candel) specifically to steal the genes of the king.
- Why this is a problem? It would mean that the Celestial Dragons make long-term plots that involve disregarding who they are for years.
2) There is currently no reason to think that is the case, and the absence of evidence is not the proof of it.

Do they mean a vessel like a new body ? Maybe, with her blue hair but meh. And he's had Gunko for decades now and used her only temporarily.
If it's a vessel for missions like in Elbaf, he could use anybody I think. Even if she's related to him, he could have produced offspring anytime. Or maybe not.
