Speculations Agendas are too old to care about anymore

#1
It's noticable with the last like 2 years. We haven't had many popular threads at all. It's just tagging old threads now, really. There's very limited content to work with from now on, and very few people actually want to try to discuss any of it.

One Piece has almost nothing left to work with, it's burning through its last bits of worthwhile content at a rapid pace.

A large portion of people here are carrying torches from 10 years ago and all of those discussions stopped making sense already.

Nobody wants to go through +1,100 chapters and pretend they're following agendas anymore.

We live in a ghost town.

Pretending that the old rivalries still matter after a decade of the same cyclical arguments has simply exhausted the user base. Nobody cares.

When someone says they are hyped about Akainu they are talking about a guy who hasn't done anything for over 10 years. Fujitora, and even Kizaru saying he could take on Big Mom and Kaido is getting super old now.

It's amazing anyone gives a shit about Mihawk, the man hasn't done anything even longer.

"I'm a Loki bro"

Well, yeah, you'd have to be because nobody else has done anything in FOREVER

Being a "Loki Bro" isn't a choice; it's a forced refuge because every other faction has been running on fumes for a decade.

I think we barely have 30 active users usually and among them only like a dozen actually say anything.

That's pretty dead.

People used to have fun making imaginary 1v1s like with Fujitora and Akainu, but as we get closer to the end it's becoming ridiculous because nobody wants to see it now. It evolved into Fujitora working with Sword instead of the speculation that Fujitora might have his own grand 1v1.

Most of the crazy 1v1s people do over the years didn't really make sense for the story and they didn't happen and won't happen sooo they're just not even trying to talk about them anymore.

One Piece has always had its lulls. They're not why this place is dying.

Communities need curating for growth and sustainability.

Site ownership and mods let this place become what it did for reasons only they know. The reputation of this place is dog shit.

It's too late to turn it around now. This place will be dead and/or fully transitioned to a discord sooner than later.

This is hilariously true. When I see shit like "goatkey" it makes me think of that Tyson interview where he's honestly miserable and then realizes he has to be Mike Tyson so he bobs his head and digs out the catchphrases

All these breaks and things that nobody cares about are killing op.

Oda works on his series as if he’d only been doing it for a short time.

The only hope is that he follows through on what he said years ago in an interview about a massive war.
Speak for yourself. There are plenty of fans who care about the story and its characters. Hype moments and context I see enjoyed by many people. Its always like this until a string of sudden "hype" moments happen and the short attention span folks come crawling back wanting their threads and debates who diffed who

Agendas just got crushed there's no need for people to carry torches anymore, it's over.

Zoro is much stronger than Sanji, there is no monster trio
Luffy is much stronger than Zoro and always will be, Alabasta was a long time ago
Admirals are irrelevant hype tools and their fanbase have been humiliated to the point they don't talk now
Mihawk is a joke in the story compared to Shanks

^ These were the agendas that carried the most discussions and they've been defeated by Oda.

The fanbase just peaked between 2020-2023 because of lockdown, a huge influx of new fans and powerscaling becoming the new fun thing among the masses, 2020-2022 was carried by the lockdown era and Wano and 2023 was the most massive year for One Piece in a long time with the gear 5 in the anime and the live action hype making this series more popular than its ever been.

Thing is, throughout all of this, the story's quality itself has been absolute garbage and was only carried by the fact we were all active during lockdown as we couldn't do most hobbies and the massive LA hype. Once that ended and normal life resumed, everyone started going back to school/uni/work and we just can't dedicate the same amount of time. Most new characters are shallow and most chapters are just useless cluttered fluff. The overall fanbase has also grown too (I know you lot are grown I am talking about the 13-16 year olds who started reading in 2020), everyone has more responsibilities... so why on earth would they spend their free time discussing a washed series with no hype. Like you mentioned, Oda has held back these characters for so long, the hype around them has fizzled out. Nobody cares about Dragon/Mihawk anymore. Even Admirals apart from Kuzan/Fujitora have lost hype, which is crazy to me, because Oda keeps writing chapters about irrelevant fluff characters and none of these big guys we care about are projected to come in the arc any time soon. DESPITE IT BEING THE FINAL SAGA!

The big arguments have gotten super cyclical, most debates are 80% the same we had 6 years ago because there's just no new material. Like why would anyone wanna spend their free time logging on and discussing Akainu with the same points they've made for a decade? The repetitiveness is very mentally exhausting.

Oda had a chance to correct all of this with GV though. Xebec and GV flashback was genuinely hyped. That was because the start of Elbaf was very strong too with cool characters, big plot moments and Shamrock being introduced which stunned the whole fanbase. After 2 years of a slump, the whole world was waiting for the most hyped flashback... and Oda decides to drop the biggest turd of all time. Makes EVERY old gen character look like a fucking bum. Makes Roger look like the most pointless and overhyped fraud of all time. Ruins Whitebeard's character. Makes the whole point of GV be Shakky and fan service. Legitimately a 0/10 flashback.

With that disaster, I think the entire fanbase had it. They simply knew this series wasn't worth their time so everyone just dropped it or decided to stop discussing it weekly online because it wasn't worth it. I sincerely believe that if GV was a great flashback, agenda piece would have been back stronger than ever but it was a cluttered pile of turd. Oda shat the bed with the entire world watching and then started padding more useless chapters which we couldn't give a fuck about. The chapters got so boring and the mental exhaustion got to the point, a good portion of us don't even read brief spoilers anymore. I don't.

Imagine how hyped Imu's reveal would have been 4-5 years ago. OP fans would have ran the internet to the ground with the hype and agendas. Now? Yeah it got some hype but everyone forgot about it in 1-2 weeks. The thing with hype is keeping it awaited and a mystery for a long time is a good thing but it gets to a point, and if you keep it a mystery for too long, people just stop caring since they know it's not coming anytime soon. I used to be so excited for Shanks's character arc just 1-2 years ago, used to brainstorm theories, now I really can't care less what Oda does with him. The anime is even worse. People used to be hyped for every episode but now it's gotten back to that pre-Wano anime stinker phase where nobody cares whatsoever.

It's a shame but Oda has killed the biggest manga of all time and I think it's beyond repair. Not even that big final war will revive the fanbase. We'll all have moved on with our lives. Personally, I don't see myself picking up the manga anytime soon again.

"revive the fanbase" lol what?
The fambase is still extremely active. People like you only think it's dying off because you're mostly on this one forum and mostly just here to powerscale so you think that not having things to powerscale off of 24/7 means the series is going to shit and nobody will care about it in a few years.
This fandlm is more than Worstgen and it's more than just powerscaling. Casual fans are still eating this series up with every new chapter, and while I don't exactly think of modern One Piece as a masterpiece, I don't see the point in whining that the series is dead because it's not giving you the things you personally want. People who complain that One Piece will somehow stop being one of the most popular animes/mangas before it even ends are just like Mario fans saying Mario is a dead franchise because there's been no new 3d Mario game in 9 years.

You refuse to engage with the fanbase beyond battleboarding, and wonder why you feel so miserable about the series. Hate OP if you want, but you can't exactly complain if you don't even bother doing things like theorizing. If all you're here for is seeing people punch eachother in the face then you might as well just look at Kengan Ashura or Dragon Ball.

It's not just this forum lmao it's dying on Reddit and Twitter too. The interactions may still seem a lot but as a former active member, they have reduced a lot.

The story is garbage lmao the battleboarding is the only fun part. Most serious conversations about the story devolve into "Wow Goda dropped peak" without any real substance.

I don't feel miserable about the series at all. Maybe at one time I was frustrated and raging yes, now I feel nothing but apathy. I really can't care less if this manga dies or becomes more popular. Or whether Oda drops an arc worse than Wano or a new Marineford. I have reached the point where the only thing I am half interested in is to find out what the One Piece in and even that is not something I will drop my jaw over. It's like before I ever started reading the series.

I am glad I got to witness Marineford though, I'll say this experience and waste of time series is worth it just for that Summit War Saga. That whole Sabaody-Marineford run is one of the greatest fictional runs and the most fun I have had with any animanga.
