Chimera Ant's Arc: From Mythology and Religion to Science and Pseudo-Science

#1
An overview of the Chimera Ant arc:

Meruem-Pitou-Pouf-Youpi are the same group as the main characters Gon-Killua-Kurapika-Leorio. They are the main characters of the Chimera Ants.
-Meruem=Gon (The main character of the group, the strongest and most talented/gifted)
-Pitou=Killua (The secondary character)
-Pufu=Kurapika
-Youpi=Leorio

As a matter of fact, in the Chimera Ant arc, Togashi wanted to create a situation where a messiah was born in a different species from humanity.
1) The story of Meruem is based on Jesus Christ, as a matter of fact, the name Meruem in HXH language means "light".
Komugi-Meruem=Mary and Jesus Christ

The Queen-Pitou-Komugi, all these 3 have the role of Mary representing the iconography of the three Marys.

The virginal conception and birth of Meruem=The virginal conception and birth of Jesus Christ with the three magi (the 3 Royal Guards) that offer to him their services

The interactions between Meruem and Komugi are based on the alchemical marriage of the Sun and the Moon described in the Rosarium Philosophorum (metaphorically also represented as Jesus and Mary)
-Meruem=The Sun=Jesus=Masculine principle
-Komugi=The Moon=Mary=Feminine principle

The illustrations show a sequence that typically includes
  1. Meeting of the king and queen.
  2. Their union.
  3. Dissolution and death.
  4. Purification.
  5. Rebirth into a perfected state.
These images are symbolic descriptions of alchemical operations, representing psychological or spiritual transformation.
  1. The interaction between Meruem and Komugi with Gungi to complete "the marriage"= The interaction between the Sun King and the Moon Queen to complete "the alchemical marriage"
  2. The death of Meruem= The death of the Sun
  3. The coronation of Pitou in the cover = the coronation of the Virgin Mary
  4. The resurrection of Meruem = the resurrection of the Sun/Jesus

2) There is a symbolic meaning behind the atomic bomb used by Isaac Netero against Meruem at the end of their fight that is connected to the first Nuclear Test.

This test, conducted in 1945 and called the "Trinity Test", was of an implosion-design plutonium device (atomic bomb), informally nicknamed "The Gadget" projected by the physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer. The code name "Trinity" was assigned by Oppenheimer, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, inspired by the poetry "Holy Sonnet XIV: Batter My Heart, Three-Personed God" of the English poet John Donne.

"Batter my heart, three-person'd God, for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an usurp'd town to another due,
Labor to admit you, but oh, to no end;
Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend,
But is captiv'd, and proves weak or untrue.
Yet dearly I love you, and would be lov'd fain,
But am betroth'd unto your enemy;
Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me."

This sonnet describes the nature of “God” (the Trinity) according to Christian theology, where there is one “God” but three eternal consubstantial persons or hypostases. As a matter of fact, in the manga, after the explosion of the atomic bomb, there is the “resurrection” (regeneration) of Meruem and his unification with Pouf and Youpi (Holy Spirit, God the Father, and Jesus the Son) as represented on the cover of Vol. 28, copied from the painting “The Coronation of the Virgin” by the Spanish painter Diego Velazquez.
Meruem, Pitou, Pouf, and Youpi represent the three aspects of the Trinity, with the Virgin Mary, of Christianity (from this, also, the ambivalence of Pitou's gender: male or female?)

  • Pouf=God the Father (as shown on the Cover)
  • Youpi=Jesus the Son (as shown on the Cover)
  • Pitou= Virgin Mary (as shown on the Cover)
  • Meruem=Holy Spirit (deduction)
The union of Meruem, Pouf, and Youpi represents the union of the Trinity (Holy Spirit, God the Father, and Jesus the Son) with the coronation of the Virgin Mary (Pitou) as Queen of Heaven.

Meruem, Pouf, and Youpi are all 3 "God", one God in three Divine persons. These three persons are distinct, yet are one substance, essence, or nature. The event in the manga connects the Christian Trinity to the explosion of the atomic bomb, representing the first nuclear test, the Trinity Test, where the light generated from the explosion of the atomic bomb is compared to the splendor of “God”.

"If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky,
that would be like the splendor of the mighty one." Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 11, Verse 12)

During the Trinity Test, Oppenheimer cited a part of the Bhagavad-Gita (The Song of God), one of the most sacred parts of the Hindu epic poem Mahabharata
where Krishna, eight Avatar of the god Vishnu, in his universal form (Vishvarupa) appeared to Arjuna (the prince/the hero of the poem).
The poem represented a war between two groups of cousins in the Kurukshetra War (the Kaurava and the Paṇḍava).
During the conversation between Arjuna and Krishna/Vishnu. The hero is anguished at the idea of slaying friends and cousins in war. However, Krishna/Vishnu convinced Arjuna to disregard emotional attachments and follow his duty.
In the Mahabharata, there are descriptions of various devastating weapons (called "astra") like Brahmastra, Brahmashira and Brahmadanda astra (weapons created by Brahma) etc..
The event cited by Oppenheimer was also represented by Togashi in the manga because the Chimera Ants arc was based on the epic poem Mahabharata (the war between Humans and Chimera Ants reflects the war between Pandava and Kaurava)

This image behind Isaac Netero in the manga was copied from the statue of Krishna from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, one of the oldest temples in Singapore, where Krishna (Isaac Netero), avatar of the god Vishnu, in his universal form (Vishvarupa) appears to Arjuna (Killua).

Isaac Netero is represented as both Krishna and the historical Buddha Siddhartha Gautama (with Senju Kannon Bodhisattva=his Nen ability (tulpa) and the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiacs=the Zodiacs 12 of the manga) because both Krishna and Buddha are 2 avatars/incarnations of the god Vishnu:
-Buddha = Avatar of Vishnu related to Buddhism
-Krishna = Avatar of Vishnu related to Hinduism

This is also related to the connection between the Trinity of Christianity (Holy Spirit + God the Father + Jesus the Son = "God"/Absolute/Impersonal) and the Trimurti of Hinduism (Brahma + Vishnu + Shiva=Brahman/Absolute, Impersonal "God" related to Creation, Preservation, and Destruction-Transformation as a cycle of life, physical world). Rather than three separate gods, they are viewed as three manifestations of one supreme, impersonal energy. This continuous cycle applies to the macrocosm (the universe) and the microcosm (where cells and experiences are constantly created, sustained, and changed). Also related to the "Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy", which states that the total quantity of mass and energy in an isolated system is constant, they can transform into one another, neither can be created nor destroyed (expressed by Einstein's mass-energy equation: E = mc^2) showcasing that mass and energy are like "2 sides of the same coin."

By the way, the Royal Guard's names are based on Egyptian gods:
  1. Neferpitou=Based on the Egyptian god of beauty, Nefertem
  2. Shiapouf=Based on the Egyptian god of Destiny, Shai
  3. Menthuthuyoupi=Based on the Egyptian god of war Menthu
Togashi wanted to represent the passage from polytheism (Chimera Ants = mix of humans and animals, like the Egyptian gods that were a mix of humans and animals) to enotheism and/or monotheism (only Meruem).
This passage also happened before the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) with the Pharaoh Akhenaten reform in ancient Egypt, where the other Egyptian gods were supplanted by Aten/the sun disk, the only God
  • Meruem=Aten=The Sun, the only "God" (that initially got syncretized with Ra-Horatky)
Successively, the "solar iconography and principle/archetype" as a representation of the "God archetype" were syncretized and/or repeated in different cultures (mythologies and religions); for example, Jesus=the Sun (25 December, the Roman festivity of Sol invictus + Sunday, the day of the Sun=festivity) and other solar deities. This is the reason Meruem is also related to Jesus=the Sun with Komugi=Mary, the Moon.

However, the Chimera Ants also represent aliens from a pseudoscientific and more logical perspective instead of the religious and mythological view (gods and/or demons)
From the more scientific/pseudo-scientific view, the Chimera Ants are also based on "aliens" in different mangas because these "aliens" are/can be related/represented as "gods" in religion/mythology.
1) Parasyte
Youpi is based on Gotou of Parasyte, an alien because chimera ants are "aliens"

2) Dragon Ball
Meruem is based on Frieza of DBZ because he represents an alien, like Frieza. More precisely, Meruem is based on both Frieza and Cell:
  1. Frieza: An alien that created a tyrannical reign and is considered like a "god." Frieza, the tyrant emperor of the universe.
  2. Cell: An "evolved" insect (different from us, humans, who are mammals-primates) that represents the "perfect being" biologically (in Meruem case: the apex of chimera ants' evolutionary process: the apex predator of the ecosystem).
The rest of the Chimera Ants are the servants/subordinates of Meruem/Frieza, for example, Zazan = Zarbon (and his/her transformation)

However, differently from Dragon Ball, HXH is more serious, complex, and "realistic". So, "Aliens" are represented, described, and analyzed in a more serious and scientific manner.

As a matter of fact, the entire Chimera Ants arc is also a criticism of anthropocentrism. Anthropocentrism is a philosophical viewpoint arguing that humans are the central or most significant entities in the world. This is a basic belief embedded in many Western religions and philosophies. Anthropocentrism regards humans as separate from and superior to nature and holds that human life has intrinsic value while other entities (including animals, plants, mineral resources, and so on) are resources that may justifiably be exploited for of humankind.

Togashi is trying to describe the philosophical and ethical problems of our time caused by humanity on the environment and the planet. This perspective is coherent with the shift of mentality of these last decades with the increase of environmental awareness about many problems: pollution, global warming, ozone layer depletion, acid rain, natural resource depletion, overpopulation, waste disposal, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity.

This shift is also expressed by the change from an anthropocentric view to an ecocentric view of life and the world/universe in our time because, from a scientific point of view, humans are animals and part of the ecosystem and biomes of nature. As a matter of fact, humans are apex predators that predate the environments (animals and plants included). Humans, or early modern humans, are taxonomically a subspecies of Homo; the history of human evolution is a part of the history of primates that led to the emergence of Homo sapiens. As a matter of fact, humans are primates and, more generally, mammals. It is estimated that over 99.9% of all species that ever lived are extinct. The average lifespan of a species is 1–10 million years. From a scientific point of view, human extinction isn't really a problem from a planetary point of view; it can also be helpful to the planet and other species.

So:
  • If a new species evolves, such as the Chimera Ants, how would they coexist with humanity, and what behaviors would be expected of them?
  • If an alien apex predator were to arrive, colonize Earth, and relegate humans to prey, why would they have to cooperate with us? For which reason would they be bound by human ethics, and ideas? Of our time: 21st century? (considering that through human history, morality, and ethics changed with the changes of society and scientific discoveries, etc.)
Meruem said it himself in relation to the behavior of humans that predates other species (pigs, cows...) on the planet, but when another species, differently "evolved" (with a different genetic behavior that can't follow human concepts of ethics and morality), preys on them, they don't understand:

The meat garden is the reverse of what humans do to animals if the situation shifts and humans become the prey:
The pig-chimera ant was slaughtering humans like "pigs"

Togashi wanted to describe the selfishness of humanity that always wants to preserve itself at the expense of the planet and other species, justifying themselves by "demonizing" the other (in this case, Meruem and the chimera ants) without understanding the complexity of reality from a more logical and scientific point of view. For example, Youpi was stated to be the least selfish of the Royal Guards because he wasn't human

Also, the bias and "fraud" of representing "God the Father" as an anthropomorphic "white male". It's obvious that "God" isn't a white male human.
Togashi connected it to the depiction of Isaac Netero (the fake anthropomorphic "God the Father" but also an avatar/hypostasis/human anthropomorphic incarnation of "God". The protector of humanity) that covered the real "God" Meruem (who was an alien avatar/hypostasis/chimera ant incarnation of the impersonal, Absolute "God"/Tao/Brahman ecc)
The division of the "levels" of "God" is:
1) Antropomorphic physical avatar/hypostasis/theophany/incarnation= Isaac Netero (God the father)
2) "Alien" (other species, in this case like Chimera ants) physical avatar/hypostasis/theophany/incarnation= Meruem (+ Pouf and Youpi)= Holy Spirit + God the father + Jesus the son= "Trinity God"=personal manifestation of the "Impersonal/Absolute"
3) The real metaphysical/Absolute/Impersonal so-called "God" often conceptualized as the Absolute, Cosmic Law, or the foundational principle of the universe appears across many philosophical and spiritual traditions. It has been described in various ways:
  • Ancient Egypt: Maat (the principle of truth, justice, and cosmic order)
  • Ancient Mesoamerica: Teotl (the dynamic, ineffable energy of the universe)
  • Hinduism: Brahman (the ultimate, unchanging reality) and Rta (the cosmic order)
  • Buddhism: Dharma (the underlying truth of interconnection and impermanence)
  • Taoism: The Tao (the ultimate, unnamable, and ineffable source of all things)
  • Zoroastrianism: Asha (the cosmic order)
  • Platonism and Neoplatonism: Nous (the supreme level of divine intellect and perception) and The One
  • Christianity: Logos (the divine reason) + the Alpha and Omega (of which Jesus Christ is seen as the anthropomorphic incarnation)

The simplistic social and anthropocentric propaganda:

1) Chimera ants are "villains and evil" they kill and eat humans.
Correction (to contextualize): Chimera Ants also use, kill, and eat humans like humans use, kill, and eat other animals. Chimera ants are just another species (differently evolved) different from Homo sapiens sapiens (humans). Humans aren't the most important and valuable beings on the planet and in the universe.

2) Calamities are "villains and evil".
Correction (to contextualize): Humanity (and their governments, V5+Kakin) wants to steal resources, lands etc in the Dark Continent (like the colonialism of the real Dark Continent, Africa, for example) for selfish purposes (need and greed of resources, lands, food, and other things). Obviously, this behavior can have consequences from Nature: illnesses and other dangerous species (Calamities).
By the way, this depiction in the manga is like the real world equivalent of the race for resources (gas, minerals, etc.) in our century (the race for Arctic regions, the property of Greenland, etc.).
In a short, comedic way: Governments and institutions stealing resources from Nature and other continents (and from other people, animals, or species) like thieves = no problem, and when there are consequences and "nature makes them pay" (for example, like the spillover of HIV-1 from chimpanzees to humans and successive spread globally during colonialism of Africa, etc.), they whinny and demonize nature, other species, etc., using their media propaganda inside our clown societies 🤣

In short
Chimera Ants and Calamities aren't just the "evil villains" they appear, just like the Ryodan (and obviously the Chairman of "Mama's help", that killed Sarada or other poor children hidden under the facade of a benevolent organization, isn't a virtuous and pious man like media, institutions and societies want to portray 🤣).
The bottomless propaganda of human societies is limitless 🤣

#2
Schematic summary of these main groups:

1) Chimera ants (based on polyteistic ancient Egyptian gods later syncretized with monotheism and Christianity)
  • Meruem=Aten=Incarnation of The Sun, the only "God"/The King-Pharaoh (henotheism/monotheism for Ancient Egypt) and "Alien" Avatar/Hypostasis of Christian Trinity "God"=Holy Spirit (later fused with Pouf and Youpi= the Christian Trinity) that supplanted the other Chimera ants/gods
  • NeferPitou, ShaiaPouf, MenthutuYoupi = Nefertem, Shai, and Mentu = Egyptian polytheistic gods in ancient Egypt and then fused with Meruem into the Christian part of the Trinity (God the father = Pouf, Jesus the son = Youpi, and Virgin Mary=Pitou)
  • 36 division commanders = 36 Egyptian decans (of the Ancient Egyptian calendar) governed by 36 Egyptian gods (Chimera Ants: a mix of humans and animals-insects like the depiction of ancient Egyptian gods)

2) Zodiacs (God the father and the angels of heavens)
  • Isaac Netero=God the father, anthropomorphic manifestation of "God" (for Christianity) and Buddha/Krishna: Avatar of Vishnu, the second part of the Trimurti with Brahma and Shiva (for Hinduism/Buddhism)
  • Zodiacs members=Angels of God the Father/Isaac Netero
3) Genei Ryodan (Lucifer and the fallen angels +Jesus and the 12 apostles reversed)
  • Chrollo=Lucifer, the leader of the fallen angels + Jesus/Antichrist (a reversed Jesus)
  • Ryodan members=reversed 12 apostles + the fallen angels that followed Lucifer/Chrollo (the city of the shooting/fallen stars, is metaphorically the city of the fallen angels, and it is based on the historical/theological Valley of Hinnom/Gehenna, the prototype of Hell)
  • Chrollo vs Hisoka= Lucifer vs "Death" and Antichrist vs Jesus Christ (a perverse Jesus) with the resurection of Hisoka the magician/Jesus the magician
4) Main characters/adults: Chrollo-Hisoka-Pariston-Ging (related to Gon-Killua-Kurapika-Leorio) = The main anthropomorphic beings that are related to the Absolute/impersonal "God"
The real "metaphysical" "God"/Absolute, Impersonal (Tao, Trimurty-Brahman, the Christian Trinity, Alpha and Omega etc)=Isaac Netero (Yang)+Beyond Netero (Yin) = Tao = Ungyo and Agyo = Alpha and Omega = The absolute impersonal "God"
  • Chrollo=Lucifer, the leader of the fallen angels
  • Pariston= Michael the archangel, the number 2 of "God"
  • Hisoka="Death"/Grim Reaper: (ヒソカ) means "secret or mystery" (like "Death" with no name), the "Joker card" of reality/the game.
  • Ging= The Avatar of the metaphysical "Absolute God/The Creator of Reality/Universe" (metaphorically, the Creator of Greed Island: creating a videogame, it's based on the philosophical "simulation hypothesis" where the reality is reductively considered as a videogame, a phenomenical/physical construction. The philosophical simulation hypothesis posits that reality is an elaborate, computed construct, resembling an interactive videogame. Popularized by Nick Bostrom and debated by thinkers like David Chalmers, it treats the universe/reality as game, where the "laws of physics" are game engine rules and "consciousness" is the player's experience reductivelly related to "spirit/soul" in religious believes. It's also related to Kant's division of Phanomenon (the physical/sensible world) and Noumenon (unknowable/metaphysical world, beyond mind and senses) but the Noumenon is also considered on an ontological level (existence) not only epistemological (limit of knowledge) like Kantian philosophy. In general terms:
  • -Spirit/Metaphysics=Source code
  • -Physics (Classical+Quantum)= User interface
Also the opposition between the Zodiacs (Hunter) and the Ryodan (Criminals) is metaphorically represented as the battle of Heaven and Hell

5) Chrollo-Hisoka-Tserriednich
Tserriednich is the third character with Chrollo and Hisoka that is related to the archetype of Jesus/Antichrist (a sort of 3 different kinds of Antichrists):
  • Chrollo=a "fallen Jesus" ("fallen" like Lucifer) because of circumstances and the environment (being born in Ryuseigai), he became a criminal and an insurectionist, but still related to the poor and emarginated people (Meteor city etc)
  • Hisoka= a "perverse/demonic Jesus" born on 6 June (666) related to pedophilia and resurected like a sort of "undead"/Death incarnate
  • Tserriednich= an "evil, rich Jesus" related to Inquisition and slaughter + torture "sinners" like the Inquisition and the Christian Royals of Middle Ages
As a matter of fact, this new chapter 411 also has the name: Life and Death, Divinely Governed (in relation to Christianity and Jesus, King of Kings)

Togashi represented the halo/Sun on Tserriednich's head (since he is represented as a saint but evil) with the head of Pairo instead of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

If someone is interested. Considering the story arcs of the manga it's possible to see a cyclical scheme (a theory)

Part 1: Isaac Netero=Omega-Yang. Main groups appeared: Zoldyck family (important family), Genei Ryodan (a group of 12), Chimera ants ("aliens")
1) Hunter exam arc (and Zoldyck family)
2) Heavens Arena arc
3) Yorknew City arc
4) Greed Island arc
5) Chimera Ant arc

The end of Chimera ant arc was like the end of the first part.

Part 2: it's a repeat of the cycle. Beyond Netero=Alpha-Yin. Main groups appeared: Hoikoro family (important family), Zodiacs (a group of 12), Calamities ("aliens")
1) 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc
: It's is the continuation in the Hunter Association and Zoldyck family of the part 1
2) Return to Heavens Arena: Chrollo vs Hisoka in Heaven Arena as Floor Masters
3) Succession Contest arc: The current arc. As already said this arc is Yorknew City arc 2.0
Point 1
The initial flashbacks of the Ryodan in Yorknew City arc with kid Chrollo that was playing with the videotape. It was concluded in the flashbacks in this arc (chapters 395-397, the story of the Ryodan: Manga).

Point 2
  • Yorknew City arc: Kurapika started working for the Nostrade Mafia Family in order to take the first pairs of scarlet eyes from Neon, "a flesh collector" (she had an ability of prophecy).
  • This arc: Kurapika started working for the Kakin Royal family (related also to the Mafia families of Kakin) in order to take the last pairs of scarlet eyes from Tserriednich "a flesh collector" (like Neon) that developed an ability of "seeing the future".
Point 3
  • Yorknew City arc: Chrollo wanted to steal the treasure of the Mafia community; he stole Neon's ability and wanted to steal Zeno and Silva's abilities but failed.
  • This arc: Chrollo wants to steal the treasures (the 3 sacred treasures) of the Kakin Royal Family and steal a powerful ability in order to kill Hisoka for good. Chrollo vs King Nasubi and Benjamin?
In Yorknew City arc Chrollo wanted to steal the abilities of Zeno and Silva and, now, he wants to steal the 3 Kakin sacred objects with Nen, as a matter of fact, the Zoldyck family is specular to the Hoikoro family with Isaac Netero and Beyond Netero.
  • Isaac Netero =Beyond Netero
  • Zeno Zoldyck= Nasubi Hoikoro (Patriarchs of Chinese traditions of an important family: Zoldyck and Hoikoro, that interact respectively with Isaac and Beyond Netero).
  • Silva Zoldyck=Benjamin Hoikoro (Tall and Muscular sons, that always follow their father Zeno/Nasubi)
Zoldyck Family=Hoikoro Family (an important and powerful family)
  • Killua=Kurapika (the main character that interact with the respective families)
  • Alluka=Woble (female character that must be protected by the main characters Killua/Kurapika)
  • Illumi=Tserriednich (evil elder brother, adversaries of Killua/Kurapika and Alluka/Woble)
  • Both Illumi and Tserriednich are related to Hisoka (that is on Tier 1 of Black Whale with his link to the Princes)
This is the reason Hisoka is in Tier 1 with the princes of Kakin. He is related both to the Zoldyck family (his interaction with Illumi) and the Hoikoro family (his connection with the princes)
4) The New Continent arc (the continuation of this arc, Hoikoro family, Tserriednich etc) it should be someting symbolically related to Greed Island arc (both important, unknow, islands)
5) The Real Dark Continent arc It should be someting related to the Chimera ant arc. Ging, Pariston, Muher, Zodiacs and Beyond Netero vs ???? of Calamities
(It's certain that there will be a 6th Calamity in relation to Kakin, as Ging said. Every Calamities (the 5 Calamities) are related to the Countries of V5. This Voyage will cause the arrival of a 6th Calamity, worse)

Part 3? (Hypotetical) Alpha and Omega - Yang+Yin="God"?
1) Return to Hunter Association and Zoldyck family ?
(return of Killua and Alluka vs Illumi part 2, Maha etc)?
2) Return to Heavens Arena ? (Zushi's return? The 21 Floor Masters that are the reverse of the 12 Zodiacs (21 is the reverse of 12):
-Pariston and Ging (main characters) + the other 10 Zodiacs,
-Chrollo and Hisoka (main characters) + the other 19 Floor Masters. The name of Heavens Arena is metaphorically related to "Heaven" like the Zodiacs in the Hunter Association skyscraper that are related metaphorically to the "angels of Heaven")
3) Return to Ryuseigai with Welfin and finally Gyro?
4) ?
5) ?

In theory, the narrative arcs of the manga could be exceptionally long 🤣

By the way, Togashi continously created oppositins about characters and groups:
  • Chrollo (Ryodan-Criminals/Hell)=Lucifer...... specular to Pariston (Zodiacs-Hunters/Heaven)= Michael the archangel
  • Hisoka (Ryodan-Criminals/Hell)=Death......... specular to "God" and Ging (Zodiacs-Hunters/Heaven)
  • Illumi (Zoldyck family-Assasins/Hell)= Satan.......... specular to Tserriednich (Hoikoro family-Royals/Heaven)= Jesus
  • Meruem (Chimera ants)= "Alien" Jesus/Avatar of Trinity God .............specular to Gyro="Alien" Lucifer for Chimera ants (related to Ryuseigai like Chrollo (an antropomorphic Lucifer) and a new King instead of Meruem ("Alien" Jesus/Avatar of Trinity God) He is the only Chimera Ant soldier known to have completely ignored the Queen's commands.
In short, the main "adversaries" in the Manga have all a religious/symbolic meaning:
  1. Chrollo=Lucifer (and a depiction of Antichrist/"a fallen Jesus")
  2. Hisoka= "Death"/Grim reaper (and a depiction of Antichrist/a perverse and pedophile Jesus)
  3. Pariston= An evil Michael the Archangel
  4. Tserriednich=An evil, rich Jesus (Another depiction fo the Antichrist but with the western popular iconography/depiction of Jesus)
  5. Illumi= Satan/Illuminati that controlls the minds of the shadow governments (the 10 dons), Big Brother of 1984
  6. Meruem= An "Alien Jesus/Trinity God" for another species Chimera ants
  7. Gyro= An "Alien Lucifer" (a Chimera ant instead of humanity)
