An overview of the Chimera Ant arc:
Meruem-Pitou-Pouf-Youpi are the same group as the main characters Gon-Killua-Kurapika-Leorio. They are the main characters of the Chimera Ants.
-Meruem=Gon (The main character of the group, the strongest and most talented/gifted)
-Pitou=Killua (The secondary character)
-Pufu=Kurapika
-Youpi=Leorio
As a matter of fact, in the Chimera Ant arc, Togashi wanted to create a situation where a messiah was born in a different species from humanity.
1) The story of Meruem is based on Jesus Christ, as a matter of fact, the name Meruem in HXH language means "light".
Komugi-Meruem=Mary and Jesus Christ
The Queen-Pitou-Komugi, all these 3 have the role of Mary representing the iconography of the three Marys.
The virginal conception and birth of Meruem=The virginal conception and birth of Jesus Christ with the three magi (the 3 Royal Guards) that offer to him their services
The interactions between Meruem and Komugi are based on the alchemical marriage of the Sun and the Moon described in the Rosarium Philosophorum (metaphorically also represented as Jesus and Mary)
-Meruem=The Sun=Jesus=Masculine principle
-Komugi=The Moon=Mary=Feminine principle
The illustrations show a sequence that typically includes
2) There is a symbolic meaning behind the atomic bomb used by Isaac Netero against Meruem at the end of their fight that is connected to the first Nuclear Test.
This test, conducted in 1945 and called the "Trinity Test", was of an implosion-design plutonium device (atomic bomb), informally nicknamed "The Gadget" projected by the physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer. The code name "Trinity" was assigned by Oppenheimer, the director of the Los Alamos Laboratory, inspired by the poetry "Holy Sonnet XIV: Batter My Heart, Three-Personed God" of the English poet John Donne.
"Batter my heart, three-person'd God, for you
As yet but knock, breathe, shine, and seek to mend;
That I may rise and stand, o'erthrow me, and bend
Your force to break, blow, burn, and make me new.
I, like an usurp'd town to another due,
Labor to admit you, but oh, to no end;
Reason, your viceroy in me, me should defend,
But is captiv'd, and proves weak or untrue.
Yet dearly I love you, and would be lov'd fain,
But am betroth'd unto your enemy;
Divorce me, untie or break that knot again,
Take me to you, imprison me, for I,
Except you enthrall me, never shall be free,
Nor ever chaste, except you ravish me."
This sonnet describes the nature of “God” (the Trinity) according to Christian theology, where there is one “God” but three eternal consubstantial persons or hypostases. As a matter of fact, in the manga, after the explosion of the atomic bomb, there is the “resurrection” (regeneration) of Meruem and his unification with Pouf and Youpi (Holy Spirit, God the Father, and Jesus the Son) as represented on the cover of Vol. 28, copied from the painting “The Coronation of the Virgin” by the Spanish painter Diego Velazquez.
Meruem, Pitou, Pouf, and Youpi represent the three aspects of the Trinity, with the Virgin Mary, of Christianity (from this, also, the ambivalence of Pitou's gender: male or female?)
Meruem, Pouf, and Youpi are all 3 "God", one God in three Divine persons. These three persons are distinct, yet are one substance, essence, or nature. The event in the manga connects the Christian Trinity to the explosion of the atomic bomb, representing the first nuclear test, the Trinity Test, where the light generated from the explosion of the atomic bomb is compared to the splendor of “God”.
"If the radiance of a thousand suns were to burst at once into the sky,
that would be like the splendor of the mighty one." Bhagavad Gita (Chapter 11, Verse 12)
During the Trinity Test, Oppenheimer cited a part of the Bhagavad-Gita (The Song of God), one of the most sacred parts of the Hindu epic poem Mahabharata
where Krishna, eight Avatar of the god Vishnu, in his universal form (Vishvarupa) appeared to Arjuna (the prince/the hero of the poem).
The poem represented a war between two groups of cousins in the Kurukshetra War (the Kaurava and the Paṇḍava).
During the conversation between Arjuna and Krishna/Vishnu. The hero is anguished at the idea of slaying friends and cousins in war. However, Krishna/Vishnu convinced Arjuna to disregard emotional attachments and follow his duty.
In the Mahabharata, there are descriptions of various devastating weapons (called "astra") like Brahmastra, Brahmashira and Brahmadanda astra (weapons created by Brahma) etc..
The event cited by Oppenheimer was also represented by Togashi in the manga because the Chimera Ants arc was based on the epic poem Mahabharata (the war between Humans and Chimera Ants reflects the war between Pandava and Kaurava)
This image behind Isaac Netero in the manga was copied from the statue of Krishna from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple, one of the oldest temples in Singapore, where Krishna (Isaac Netero), avatar of the god Vishnu, in his universal form (Vishvarupa) appears to Arjuna (Killua).
Isaac Netero is represented as both Krishna and the historical Buddha Siddhartha Gautama (with Senju Kannon Bodhisattva=his Nen ability (tulpa) and the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiacs=the Zodiacs 12 of the manga) because both Krishna and Buddha are 2 avatars/incarnations of the god Vishnu:
-Buddha = Avatar of Vishnu related to Buddhism
-Krishna = Avatar of Vishnu related to Hinduism
This is also related to the connection between the Trinity of Christianity (Holy Spirit + God the Father + Jesus the Son = "God"/Absolute/Impersonal) and the Trimurti of Hinduism (Brahma + Vishnu + Shiva=Brahman/Absolute, Impersonal "God" related to Creation, Preservation, and Destruction-Transformation as a cycle of life, physical world). Rather than three separate gods, they are viewed as three manifestations of one supreme, impersonal energy. This continuous cycle applies to the macrocosm (the universe) and the microcosm (where cells and experiences are constantly created, sustained, and changed). Also related to the "Law of Conservation of Mass-Energy", which states that the total quantity of mass and energy in an isolated system is constant, they can transform into one another, neither can be created nor destroyed (expressed by Einstein's mass-energy equation: E = mc^2) showcasing that mass and energy are like "2 sides of the same coin."
By the way, the Royal Guard's names are based on Egyptian gods:
This passage also happened before the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) with the Pharaoh Akhenaten reform in ancient Egypt, where the other Egyptian gods were supplanted by Aten/the sun disk, the only God
However, the Chimera Ants also represent aliens from a pseudoscientific and more logical perspective instead of the religious and mythological view (gods and/or demons)
From the more scientific/pseudo-scientific view, the Chimera Ants are also based on "aliens" in different mangas because these "aliens" are/can be related/represented as "gods" in religion/mythology.
1) Parasyte
Youpi is based on Gotou of Parasyte, an alien because chimera ants are "aliens"
2) Dragon Ball
Meruem is based on Frieza of DBZ because he represents an alien, like Frieza. More precisely, Meruem is based on both Frieza and Cell:
The rest of the Chimera Ants are the servants/subordinates of Meruem/Frieza, for example, Zazan = Zarbon (and his/her transformation)
However, differently from Dragon Ball, HXH is more serious, complex, and "realistic". So, "Aliens" are represented, described, and analyzed in a more serious and scientific manner.
As a matter of fact, the entire Chimera Ants arc is also a criticism of anthropocentrism. Anthropocentrism is a philosophical viewpoint arguing that humans are the central or most significant entities in the world. This is a basic belief embedded in many Western religions and philosophies. Anthropocentrism regards humans as separate from and superior to nature and holds that human life has intrinsic value while other entities (including animals, plants, mineral resources, and so on) are resources that may justifiably be exploited for of humankind.
Togashi is trying to describe the philosophical and ethical problems of our time caused by humanity on the environment and the planet. This perspective is coherent with the shift of mentality of these last decades with the increase of environmental awareness about many problems: pollution, global warming, ozone layer depletion, acid rain, natural resource depletion, overpopulation, waste disposal, deforestation, and loss of biodiversity.
This shift is also expressed by the change from an anthropocentric view to an ecocentric view of life and the world/universe in our time because, from a scientific point of view, humans are animals and part of the ecosystem and biomes of nature. As a matter of fact, humans are apex predators that predate the environments (animals and plants included). Humans, or early modern humans, are taxonomically a subspecies of Homo; the history of human evolution is a part of the history of primates that led to the emergence of Homo sapiens. As a matter of fact, humans are primates and, more generally, mammals. It is estimated that over 99.9% of all species that ever lived are extinct. The average lifespan of a species is 1–10 million years. From a scientific point of view, human extinction isn't really a problem from a planetary point of view; it can also be helpful to the planet and other species.
So:
The meat garden is the reverse of what humans do to animals if the situation shifts and humans become the prey:
The pig-chimera ant was slaughtering humans like "pigs"
Togashi wanted to describe the selfishness of humanity that always wants to preserve itself at the expense of the planet and other species, justifying themselves by "demonizing" the other (in this case, Meruem and the chimera ants) without understanding the complexity of reality from a more logical and scientific point of view. For example, Youpi was stated to be the least selfish of the Royal Guards because he wasn't human
Also, the bias and "fraud" of representing "God the Father" as an anthropomorphic "white male". It's obvious that "God" isn't a white male human.
Togashi connected it to the depiction of Isaac Netero (the fake anthropomorphic "God the Father" but also an avatar/hypostasis/human anthropomorphic incarnation of "God". The protector of humanity) that covered the real "God" Meruem (who was an alien avatar/hypostasis/chimera ant incarnation of the impersonal, Absolute "God"/Tao/Brahman ecc)
The division of the "levels" of "God" is:
1) Antropomorphic physical avatar/hypostasis/theophany/incarnation= Isaac Netero (God the father)
2) "Alien" (other species, in this case like Chimera ants) physical avatar/hypostasis/theophany/incarnation= Meruem (+ Pouf and Youpi)= Holy Spirit + God the father + Jesus the son= "Trinity God"=personal manifestation of the "Impersonal/Absolute"
3) The real metaphysical/Absolute/Impersonal so-called "God" often conceptualized as the Absolute, Cosmic Law, or the foundational principle of the universe appears across many philosophical and spiritual traditions. It has been described in various ways:
The simplistic social and anthropocentric propaganda:
1) Chimera ants are "villains and evil" they kill and eat humans.
Correction (to contextualize): Chimera Ants also use, kill, and eat humans like humans use, kill, and eat other animals. Chimera ants are just another species (differently evolved) different from Homo sapiens sapiens (humans). Humans aren't the most important and valuable beings on the planet and in the universe.
2) Calamities are "villains and evil".
Correction (to contextualize): Humanity (and their governments, V5+Kakin) wants to steal resources, lands etc in the Dark Continent (like the colonialism of the real Dark Continent, Africa, for example) for selfish purposes (need and greed of resources, lands, food, and other things). Obviously, this behavior can have consequences from Nature: illnesses and other dangerous species (Calamities).
By the way, this depiction in the manga is like the real world equivalent of the race for resources (gas, minerals, etc.) in our century (the race for Arctic regions, the property of Greenland, etc.).
In a short, comedic way: Governments and institutions stealing resources from Nature and other continents (and from other people, animals, or species) like thieves = no problem, and when there are consequences and "nature makes them pay" (for example, like the spillover of HIV-1 from chimpanzees to humans and successive spread globally during colonialism of Africa, etc.), they whinny and demonize nature, other species, etc., using their media propaganda inside our clown societies 🤣
In short
Chimera Ants and Calamities aren't just the "evil villains" they appear, just like the Ryodan (and obviously the Chairman of "Mama's help", that killed Sarada or other poor children hidden under the facade of a benevolent organization, isn't a virtuous and pious man like media, institutions and societies want to portray 🤣).
The bottomless propaganda of human societies is limitless 🤣

- Cell: An "evolved" insect (different from us, humans, who are mammals-primates) that represents the "perfect being" biologically (in Meruem case: the apex of chimera ants' evolutionary process: the apex predator of the ecosystem).
However, differently from Dragon Ball, HXH is more serious, complex, and "realistic". So, "Aliens" are represented, described, and analyzed in a more serious and scientific manner.
As a matter of fact, the entire Chimera Ants arc is also a criticism of anthropocentrism. - If an alien apex predator were to arrive, colonize Earth, and relegate humans to prey, why would they have to cooperate with us? For which reason would they be bound by human ethics, and ideas? Of our time: 21st century? (considering that through human history, morality, and ethics changed with the changes of society and scientific discoveries, etc.)
The meat garden is the reverse of what humans do to animals if the situation shifts and humans become the prey:

- Ancient Mesoamerica: Teotl (the dynamic, ineffable energy of the universe)
- Hinduism: Brahman (the ultimate, unchanging reality) and Rta (the cosmic order)
- Buddhism: Dharma (the underlying truth of interconnection and impermanence)
- Taoism: The Tao (the ultimate, unnamable, and ineffable source of all things)
- Zoroastrianism: Asha (the cosmic order)
- Platonism and Neoplatonism: Nous (the supreme level of divine intellect and perception) and The One
- Christianity: Logos (the divine reason) + the Alpha and Omega (of which Jesus Christ is seen as the anthropomorphic incarnation)
The simplistic social and anthropocentric propaganda:
