The advanced screening took place today at United Cinemas Aqua City Odaiba, Screen 1, starting at 16:35. There was a notable line outside just for signed BLEACH panels.
Limited-edition entry gifts handed out at the door, fan-club seats positioned close to the stage.
It started with zero warning or announcements; some people genuinely thought the first episode was a promo PV.
All three episodes played back to back with no OP or ED, making the whole thing feel like one cohesive high-budget feature film. The visuals for the opening and ending themes were not shown at the screening, though the songs themselves played.
The sakuga, art direction, and choreography are visibly a step up from the previous cour, featuring high information density throughout. The animation features an exceptional amount of sakuga, including an impressive 3D camera rotation during the Ishida vs. Haschwalth fight.
Content is estimated to be around 90% faithful to the original manga, with fight scenes expanded tremendously.
Yoruichi's figure is deliberately highlighted throughout; attendees described it as "erotic." The "God of Thunder 3" title card appears fully uncensored from the manga, and her transformation is also fully uncensored.
Yoruichi vs Askin is described as having some of the best animated sequences in the first three episodes overall, though Orihime vs Yhwach is a close contender.
Episode 1
First Half:
Opening: Opens on Yhwach's dream of being cut down by Ichigo, from Chapter 672, accompanied by the episode title card.
Features a wide, sweeping tracking shot across all the active battlefronts.
Chad and Ganju's fight against the statues gets extended slightly. Ichigo and Orihime step in briefly for a few seconds, which is the last time we see Chad and Ganju in these three episodes.
Scene moves to Kisuke's shop in the Living World. Tessai, Jinta, and Ururu are all shown.
The confrontation between Uryu and Haschwalth begins, with Uryu activating his Vollständig almost instantly and Haschwalth effortlessly reading his initial attacks.
Second Half:
Focuses on Yoruichi vs. Askin, with the battle sequence described as high-quality sakuga.
Before the fight begins, Askin gets a highly stylized "aura-farming" moment where debris columns from Wahrwelt crash within millimeters of his head while he lies completely motionless on the ground.
The episode ends as Askin activates his Vollständig, accompanied by a new, distinct classical, Arabic/Egyptian-style choir track.
Episode 2
First Half: Focuses on Yoruichi and Kisuke vs. Askin, concluding the fight.
Yoruichi's Raiju Senkei (God of Thunder 3) form is animated in high fidelity but her initial big attack doesn't feel particularly lethal, as Askin easily survives.
Askin's Vollständig is purple, not green, and his reiatsu is purple as well. His Gift Deluxe and the giant sphere are also purple, clarifying fan theories regarding the color scheme.
Askin's Vollständig grants him stat buffs, with his floor rings allowing for faster movements and increased poison output. His Gift Ring is shown to be completely undodgeable, appearing directly on the target's body once fired.
Urahara's Bankai is summoned in a spooky, horror-style first-person perspective, making a creepy clanking/rattling sound. It is animated in a subtle 2D/3D CG blend.
Urahara's Bankai's versatility is highlighted as he skates along Benihime's stitches like a high-speed rail system, allowing him to blitz Askin at full speed.
An anime-original scene explains why Urahara wears clogs, with the explanation tying directly into how his physical abilities and fight tactics work.
Despite his Bankai buffs, it remains clear Urahara cannot beat Askin in a straight, head-on fight.
Grimmjow sneaks behind Askin and rips out his heart. Askin tries to trigger Blut Vene immediately afterward, but it is too late.
Urahara's closing lines before collapsing are altered slightly from the manga: instead of singling out just Ichigo and Rukia, he now says, "Kurosaki-san, Kuchiki-san, everyone..."
There is no backstory or flashback shown for Kisuke and Yoruichi.
Second Half: Splits between Uryū vs. Haschwalth and Ichigo/Orihime vs. Yhwach, showing thematic parallels.
Ichigo and Orihime arrive to face Yhwach. Yhwach sits on his throne firing massive torrents of Soul King black chaos energy.
Uryu vs. Haschwalth continues, highlighting a clear visual contrast between Uryu's blue and Jugram's red.
Uryu deploys a new protective shield shaped like a multi-faceted, movable Reishi cube (resembling a D12) that surrounds his body like armor. He also utilizes new trap-laying techniques.
Haschwalth manifests a new black slime cloak, black slime armor, and black slime wings on his back, simulating a Vollständig of his own using the Soul King's black chaos power.
Uryū's attacks pierce Haschwalth, but the black slime armor blocks the damage and instantly heals him. Haschwalth easily counters trajectories using the Almighty's power.
Haschwalth pins Uryu down and monologues about the "Welt" (the Quincy world), refusing to finish him off just to keep talking. Uryu tactically praises Ichigo and predicts his victory to slowly get under Jugram's skin. Uryu ends up skewered but does not use the Antithesis by the end of the episode.
Episode 3
First Half: Continuation of Ichigo/Orihime vs. Yhwach and Uryu vs. Haschwalth.
A brand-new Tatsuki and Orihime flashback plays, adapted directly from Tite Kubo's art exhibition Q&A material, exploring her resolve.
Ichigo is overwhelmed and knocked out by Yhwach's black chaos waves, prompting Orihime to step up and fight Yhwach completely solo for about two full minutes.
Orihime is heavily active: she deploys Tsubaki (which visibly impresses Yhwach), uses Santen Kesshun to cover blind spots and block attacks, and creates hard-light footholds for Ichigo to move on.
Orihime holds off Yhwach's Reiatsu Crush with her shield. The original visual patterns and sound effects from early in the series (OG Reiatsu crush lines and effects) return here.
There is a scene where Orihime gets princess-carried by Ichigo.
Yhwach reveals Ichibei's entire plan was to make Ichigo the next Soul King. Uryu overhears the exact same revelation from Haschwalth.
Ichigo wakes up. Learning of Ichibei's manipulative plan, he remains resolved to protect his friends, stating that failing to defeat Yhwach means failing to protect anyone anyway.
This realization infuriates Ichigo, prompting an angry, powerful Getsuga Tenshō that nearly cuts Yhwach in half.
Ichigo gets pinballed around by Yhwach's attacks. Orihime tries to hold him back from blindly charging, but after seeing his calm, unworried face, she lets him go. His blades then turn white as a massive red flame explosion erupts and the Horn of Salvation (HoS) activates.
Ichibei draws an ink circle on blank parchment (which previously held the Zero Squad's blood oath seal), manifesting a black ink salamander that floats around and enters his cup. He drinks it and quietly says, "I'm sorry," hinting at the creation of something significant.
Yhwach and Jugram lay out that the colorless black reiatsu is the Soul King's primeval power. Ichibei governs "BLACK," but Ichigo as a hybrid miracle can wield it. Irazu Sando was a test to identify if Ichigo, the perfect vessel candidate, was capable of making the cut.
A red sphere and a spatial tear appear, signaling the three worlds collapsing into each other. This is visible from below at the Soul King Palace and from above in the Living World for Jinta, Ururu, and Tessai. Yhwach's goal is stated plainly: wipe out all Hollows and Soul Reapers to break the balance, then use the Soul King's power to rebuild a physical paradise for Quincies alone.
"Number One" plays during the end credits of Episode 3.
Second Half: Focuses on Gerard vs. the Visoreds and the three Captains.
The fight against Gerard starts largely off-screen. It opens with the Visored in formation before cutting away; when the camera returns, they are shown hiding around buildings as Gerard searches for them.
The Visored spread out, don their Hollow masks, and unleash their abilities: Shinji uses Sakanade, dodges a hit, and stabs Gerard in the nape; Hiyori fires a triple Cero; Kensei uses his Bankai and mask simultaneously; Mashiro delivers a kick; and Lisa, Love, and Rose use their Shikai. Hachi backs them up with Kido.
The Visored's attack sequence features highly stylized elements reminiscent of a transformation sequence, with each character associated with a distinct color (Hiyori = red, Mashiro = green, Shinji = yellowish-green).
In the end, they all stand together in one spot to fire a massive combined team Cero, firing 10 blasts total counting Hiyori's triple. The attack has completely zero effect.
Gerard shrugs off the combined assault and knocks the entire Visored squad out with a single, sweeping Lariat/palm strike.
Kenpachi arrives to the battlefield, starting the fight already in Shikai and without his eyepatch. He delivers his manga line: "What's this? The Captain Classes have all been wiped out?"
Toshiro takes on Gerard alone and performs notably well. The height jokes and banter between Toshiro and Byakuya are fully intact, alongside more Momo reaction shots than in the manga.
Gerard's giant form is animated completely in 2D with zero CG used.
Ending: The episode finishes abruptly with Gerard piercing and damaging all three Captains.
Kenpachi is stunned and falls after his initial clash with Hoffnung. Zaraki's Bankai is not shown in these three episodes.
When Gerard moves to follow up and finish Zaraki, Toshiro and Byakuya step in front of Kenpachi to block and push Hoffnung back together, chipping the sword.
Chipping Hoffnung immediately triggers Gerard's damage-reflecting ability, cutting through the stomachs of Byakuya, Toshiro, and Kenpachi simultaneously.
Kenpachi is left in seriously critical condition. Hard cut to black.
Mimihagi does not appear at any point across all three episodes.
Voice Actor Stage Event
On stage: Morita (Ichigo), Sugiyama (Uryu), Miki (Urahara), Umehara (Haschwalth), Takeuchi (Askin), MC Chiaki Matsuzawa.
Morita pointed out that every sword in the new key visual is one of Ichigo's past swords. Also the first time a background has ever been added to the main series visual.
Miki described Benihime's hovering protective mode as "cute." Takeuchi joked, "How many times is this place going to explode?!" and praised the 3D camera work throughout.
Sugiyama praised the cerebral red vs blue visual contrast in the Uryu/Haschwalth fight. Umehara called the choreography sleek and fluid.
Morita said it doesn't feel like the end. MC Matsuzawa replied, "When BLEACH ends, BLEACH begins," which immediately set off Hell Arc theories in the room.
Miki told Morita: "Congratulations. This is the end. You've run the entire way to the end!"
Morita mocked Renji's VA's "Bankai" pronunciation, then screamed a full "Bankai!" out at the whole audience.
Klub Outside & Tite Kubo Q&A
Kubo sat incognito in the general audience seats with fans before coming up on stage.
Revealed that Ichigo's family surname was originally planned to be "Tsujimura" (辻村).
The VAs asked Kubo highly specific lore and character questions on stage. He shared creative insights that have never appeared in any official Klub Outside Q&A. Attendees were floored: "Kubo's ideas are superhuman."
A "spinoff" and something called "Karaburi" briefly came up, though it's unclear if these are actual projects or just crowd wishful thinking.
Event closed with a surprise birthday celebration and a custom cake for Kubo.
