Yeah, maybe, but at this point I'm not even sure Imu is the monster in the mural.

And honestly, even with all the mystery around the Void Century and Imu's origin, Teach still feels even more special than he looks on the surface. There's just something about the way Oda handles him that screams endgame. He still feels more protected, more abnormal, and more deliberately hidden than Imu does right now.

That's why the whole Imu situation feels so strange to me. The humanoid form was something I always saw as an ace Oda was saving for much later, so revealing it now and already having Imu fight Luffy feels way too early. If Imu was really meant to be the final wall, I would have expected Oda to hold that back a lot longer.

So right now I'm stuck in this weird spot where Imu is supposed to be huge, but Teach still feels like the one carrying the bigger endgame aura.
I've been saying this for a while: If Blackbeard was simply the last roadbump for Luffy to become Pirate King, and Imu is the last adversary, after he loses, the story logically ends then and there. Sure, there'd be a long epilogue and such, but really that would be it. Bad guy king is defeated, world is freed, etc. And an ending like that feels a bit...anticlimactic.

However...let's say at the climactic showdown of the Heroic Alliance and whoever left loyal to Imu, as Luffy defeats Imu, Blackbeard's fleet and allies sail in with Pluton and he finishes off the defeated Imu and the crew has to drag a exhausted Luffy out and retreat from Mariejois...this becomes a lot more interesting.

Even if say, Luffy has to recover for two weeks and the Alliance reforms, for two weeks, Teach is the King of the World, not unlike Demon King Piccolo taking over the world in Dragon Ball. For those two weeks, the world descends into absolute anarchy and chaos as Davy Jones' heir reclaims the throne and the second Joy Boy fights to fix what should have been done right all those centuries ago.
