not sure if you watch any american sports, but live performances for sporting events has always historically held at halftime (NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB). If they happen before an event, its usually a no-name/unknown/fading out artist or performer that is held for tipoffs with fans that don't attend the game directly in the venue
