Elbaf will end with a tragedy.
It's interesting that the start of Elbaf was all jolly and started with not one banquette, but two! There was nothing to celebrate at the end of Egghead, but that was mostly due to our crew mourning the death of Vegapunk. It would be inappropriate to celebrate. As soon as they set sail to Elbaf they had reasons to celebrate with the Giant Warrior Pirates with Lillith confirming that "Vegapunk is alive". Then we had the banquette in the village later to formaly celebrate the Strawhat's arrival in Elbaf. The celebration at the end of an arc was intentionally put at the beginning of the arc, because Oda might end Elbaf on a dramatic note, and have a celebration later down the line as compensation.
So what could Elbaf's tragic end be? Most people speculate that Scopper Gaban could die this arc, in some sort of heroic sacrifice or dirty trap. This could happen because he has his "weakness" in Colon present. Colon also could need a dramatic event that will drive him to seek greater power and grow as a character. It is also very possible that Ripley will die too. We know one of the most cruel things the World Government is doing, is creating orphans due to the aftermath of their operations. It is time we see something like that occur infront of the Strawhats, so they are fully locked in to destroy the current World Government. As sad as it sounds and maybe that's the goal of it...Colon might become orphanized by the end of the Elbaf arc and that's the big plot twist/tragedy of the arc.
