I believe Eris was from Lulusia, and that when Kuma teleported Eris and Teach, they ended up back in Lulusia.
I think there, Eris died of a broken heart, like many other One Piece wives have (and I also still believe this is actually a legit curse by Imu. Imu has CURSED the mothers of the D), but, Teach viewed Lulusia as home.
This would fit VERY WELL thematically with Ace's Cover Series searching for Blackbeard being set in Lulusia.
I think what triggered Blackbeard's Awakening, was realizing Lulusia had been destroyed.
God Valley was already lost.
I think Imu destroying Lulusia will send Teach over the edge.
