Upon initially reading the chapter I found Imu’s dialogue about Luffy’s brothers awkward, hamfisted, and irrelevant. But I think Oda might by setting the ground work for something more.

As we all know Doffy is in some ways a prototype of Imu. An interesting facet of Doffy’s character is how despite all he has suffered at the hands of the CDs, he still believes in their superiority and treats as a fact.

Imu being fixated on blood relationships could also explain why he still allows for the CDs to live let alone continue to give them the lifestyles they live.
