Character Discussion why did Oda let Zoro face Sommers and Sanji face Killingham while the opposite makes a lot more sense?

It can also represent spiritual awakenings and the beast that guards heavens gates. Perfect to face the king of hell. Also the cooking thing isn't that true apparently. Ryu(dragon)ma(horse) (killingham is a mythical dragon horse) plus kirin meaning giraffe feel more intentional and foreshadowing

Rimoshifu is killinghams surname its an anagram for shimofuri referring to the marbling of meat ( like wagyu) or a method of cook where you pour hot water on meat or vegetables

Technically true. But idk he has alot more connections and puns to zoro. My theory is oda didn't fully lock in the matchups until later thats why sanji and sommers have so many connections and zoro and killingham do too. Unless killingham makes a zoro mma to fight sanji. Than those connections would make sense too but we'll see

I have to note it actually fits for sanjis opponent to have zoro connections (also king had sanji connections)

given how Zoro and sanji are rivals

I mean I suppose but like these connections in particular are more like puns of foreshadowing rather than what can be used in a meaningful way if that makes sense. Like sommers connections to sanji you can sorta see why oda has them. Hes an inverse of zoro to fight with and that can develop his views on passion and defends sanjis honor like okay I see that

But putting many, and I mean many puns on killingham to zoro isnt rlly smth that can help sanji grow. It feels more like a miss match to me personally. Unless we get smth with zoro and killingham (a death pack zoro mma is perfect for this)
