Ever since we found out the Adam Tree Yggdrasil was holy, and that it's a serious sin to cut it down in Elbaph, I've been waiting for branches of the Adam Tree to be cut down through either fire making the branches require amputation, or by strong slashes from powerful fighters.
I can't remember if I specifically mentioned Gyaban cutting down trees during combat, but, I did state I thought it would be cool if the Adam Wood Franky bought using Usopp's... ahem, Nami's stolen money, was actually from Elbaph, and Gyaban had cut down that wood himself.
Since we know Elbaph has forest fires occasionally, I liked the symbolism of a storm causing an Adam's Wood Branch to catch fire, then be cut by Gyaban, then sold by him to the outside world. The "Storm" of "D" caused the Straw Hat's to get the Adam's Wood to make the Sunny. The storm leads to dawn. I think that's nice.
So, eventually, my slow/broken brain realized today, that THIS SHIT HAPPENED IN THIS CHAPTER, GYABAN CUT THE TREE
The chunks cut from Yggdrasil are NEARLY THE SIZE OF THE UNDERWORLD'S FUCKING MOUNTAINS
That's more wood than when Groot busted into the illegal fertilizer on flower lady night... I mean... ahem...
That's a lot of wood
In this scene, we see three distinct pieces fall: I believe this is important, and they will be divided evenly amongst the Straw Hat, Heart, and Kidd Pirates.
The Giants have yet to receive an Economic Journal detailing Linlin's defeat: they have attributed her defeat to the Straw Hats, without knowing Law and Kidd are the ones who actually beat Big Mom.
Once the Giants realize this, I believe they, as the loyal folk they are, will offer the Heart Pirates and Kidd Pirates one of these chunks of Adam Wood's branch, to be used as the foundation for their new ships.
Since Kidd and Law both lost their ships, they need to rebuild, and, ideally, make ships strong enough to survive the New World.
The third chunk will obvious go to the Straw Hats. This allows them to have Adam Wood in stock to repair the Sunny, as well as:
-Possibly renovate and expand on the Sunny's design. It's possibly Franky didn't have enough Adam's Wood to build everything he wanted, and made it so that, in the future, the ship can grow if he gains more Adam's Wood.
-Upgrade the Franky Shogun with Adam's Wood
-New Weapons/Tools. I could see Usopp using a Adam's Wood Kabuto, it would be a wonderful nod to Elbaph and his love for the Giants.
-Help rebuild damaged parts of Elbaph
Getting this much Adam's Wood should be a large upgrade for the Straw Hats, and I can't wait to see how Usopp/Franky/Lilith take advantage of this opportunity.
