Luffy ain't ruining my experience anymore. I am used to his over the top wank and just don't care much. It's going on for a long time anyway.

What's ruining my experience is frequent break weeks + slow pacing + lack of justice being done to fights and some of the sub plots
hard truth but you are wrong on "over the top wank"...no wank and more retarded writing ever since wano ended...infact written bad with excessive teasing with little payoffs, not just for Luffy, but for all SHs with some small good scenes here and there...if anything, there are over the top breaks of Oda...if he is not in good health, might as well speed up plot and finish instead of dragging things.....I really want someone to ask some tough questions instead of stupid questions in those sbs interviews, whatever it is
anyways Oda excessive breaks and little to no payoffs for setups is ruining things for me

Kinda funny how you are lumping everyone here to the same "OP haters" group. I used to post threads like these when I was more active on the forum https://worstgen.alwaysdata.net/forum/threads/one-piece-appreciation-thread.38253/ (the poll expired tho), and overall my experience with OP is more positive rather than negative. I am free to exchange my opinion with others, as this is a forum dedicated to OP discussions, and if I don't like some stuff, I will express that. If I like something, I will also talk about it. Same goes to you. We all have the same rights and freedom here. If you don't like this place, you can simply leave instead of telling everyone what they should do.
Perphaps, I function in general vision. I'm not trying to pinpoint the critics of each, I wouldn't be able to register that to begin with. My eyes are focused on the global wave and movement of hatred, not specific people, that is why I might lump you in when in reality, you have been rather cool. If you bark with the wolf, I'll tend to make less distinction, do you feel me. Again, nothing personnal, it's might be unprecise bad on micro, but it's an approach that I find efficient on a macro scale and big social movements.

No.

1. It is a moral statement, at least in that context (while you can make that case in others)

2. There is no "earlier point" here where Luffy was unfocused and entranced by his own power. The naivity of Paradise is not present anymore, what you are seeing, is a lack of focus and a surplus of ego. Which is the reason why Gaban made a point out of it. Luffy got cocky through freedom and power as anyone would.

This is not a regression, it's the addition of a new flaw something created at the intersection of his power rise and new title.

Yes. That is precisely why it is good.

You are supposed to notice that. You are supposed to question that. You are supposed to understand that it is the reason why Luffy got defeated here.

As I said it is the addition of a flaw. But that is semantic. The important thing is : this is good characterization.

It makes Luffy a more complex character (which he already was btw) and someone that can still learn. The point of Marineford and Whole Cake was never to set Luffy's maturity in stone, it was meant to give him the tools to do better next time.

I think some people don't like unserious and edgy characters.

Luffy is exactly who he should be, he has in fact never been so much "Luffy" than in Elbaph. What we need is not more stoicism, it is more focus and less ego.

You are already all saying the same freaking thing. We get it now. You don't like cartoons and you like your men edgy and full of aura and muscle.

What I'm asking is to let the room for more positivity to strive. Our time needs positivy, not edgelords.
You do need stoicism , Serious people get taken serious and they make situations serious.
Why do you think Water 7 Saga was so Good? Why do you think Marineford Saga was so Good?
Because it was Personal and There were no jokes with Luffy.

Not necessarily. And that is a social problem, because it creates the idea that stoicism is the balanced and only way to act through conflict in a charismatic way. Both in fiction and reality, it is usually not and kind of an antithesis to real life human ethical interaction and actions.

Stoicism can be helpfull, but not in all types of situations. Sometimes goofyness is needed, sometimes emotions are needed, sometimes anger is needed. Sometime kindness is needed. SOmetimes joy is needed.

Why do you think Water 7 Saga was so Good?
Because the story was amazing.

Not necessarily because of stoic characters.

Why do you think Marineford Saga was so Good?
Same thing.

Because it was Personal and There were no jokes with Luffy.
Yes, it was good, but not necessarily better than a joyous Luffy.

What Oda is proposing now is a different form of good characterization. the current Luffy si indeed flawed, but it is by design.

As a Luffy fan I can honestly say I've found the personality switch to be the most annoying part of Gear 5 while the power itself is not bad.

Base Luffy to G4 fights are peak.

G5 can be hit or miss depending on Loda tries to add stupid things to extend the plot or make it so Luffy can't go all out.
