Title.

Much like Goda himself who expressed jealously at Naruto's popularity
O: It's wonderful having Naruto as an opponent. The luckiest thing was you didn't let me get complete victory. Actually, I didn't have complete victory in weekly serialization, besides and most importantly, Naruto is more popular than One Piece in foreign countries. Though a part of me was not reconciled to that truth, at the same time, I'm grateful. Because the existence of such a piece of work, is one and only in the world.
are OP fans the same?

I found people on this very site getting agitated and irritated when people would talk about Naruto. Most Naruto fans call a spade a spade and won't jump through countless hoops tryna convince you that something objectively bad is good or that you just don't understand the genius behind it. I'd say most Naruto fans accept Naruto for what it is, a good fun manga, with some great and memorable characters, with an amazing part 1, and a solid part 2, but won't try to convince you Kishimoto is better than Shakespeare lmao.

Thoughts?

So long as they don't disrespect best girl Sakura

One Piece syndrome is a thing, it's where some lunatic fans tie their entire self worth and well being into One Piece, any attack on One Piece or Oda is taken as a personal insult and they will lash out on you like wild dogs, a spectacular phenomena.
I'm sure you've seen a lot
Any mention of Naruto or Kishimoto triggers tf out of them

Meanwhile you'll see many Naruto fans appreciate other mangas as a better work, but as a manga Naruto holds a special place because of the balance Kishimoto created from character design, dialogue, power system, plot, good pacing and consistency

In a forum like this that allows the discussion of other mangas the answer is yes

Perhaps 20 years ago when Naruto first came into the states with a faithful dub and top promotion on Toonami making it a cultural phenomenon compared to One Piece getting any chances it might have had killed with its notoriously bad 4kids dub and the Funimation dub arriving too little too late

Definitely not these days where One Piece is easily the more popular and growing of the 2 among western fandoms.

I’m not even a fan, but if I was, I’d see nothing to be envious for from Naruto with its current state of decline and stagnation it’s been in since Boruto started compared to One Piece or Bleach’s recent market growths in the past few years.
