So I recently got back into comics after a while.


Purchased some stories and got them delivered this morning

The ones I got to get back into it

Gonna finish the Snyder run of Batman, as soon as they get copies of the rest like Endgame, etc.

I grew up with like 90% Marvel except I really love Superman. It's been so long that I've collected most well known characters and some deep cuts, like Jack Staff and Herbie Popnecker. I have a shit load of Batman and X-Men because you can't not, lol

image comics are my favorite one thing i never liked about DC or Marvel is all the different versions and storylines of the same characters.

Tho, I will say I was never a big fan of Supes. Not that I dislike him, he's got his moments, but I am picking Batman over him any time.

The part in Batman Begins where he confronts Falcone and gets thrown out on his ass is pretty much the character for me in a nutshell. But DC will do anything to make him cool and the sheer effort works

Then again, I don't really like when Superman writers take him too seriously. Like instead of "Goku by way of Hank Hill" they try to make him edgy , brooding about people he can't save and shit. The worst thing about Batman IMO is that they just try to make everyone Batman now.

And he is a better character. Well at least for me.

Aquaman really is underrated. As someone who isn't really "into" marine life I have to say Arthur and Namor have always had some of the best world building this side of Thor

The Batman stories are also better imo, and his rogues gallery blows Supes' outta the water.

The current Detective Comics is good, Fraction was doing well up to this crossover. They're in the middle of re-releasing Wagner's stories (Mad Monk, Monster Men, and Trinity). They also should re-solicit Batman Universe soon, it was really slept on. Batman's Grave was also really slept on because of the shit that went down with Warren Ellis.

My Dad collected Marvel Comics and I did too for a while until the writing became shit and they started retconning everything! I still have some of the comics in storage. I haven't read Marvel in years once I switched to manga. Our comic book industry just isn't what it used to be back in the day.

I enjoyed The X-Men, the Chris Claremont and Jim Lee years are my favorite era. I have quite a few of them that I inherited from my Dad. I was also into Ghost Rider, Werewolf By Night, Black Panther, Spider Woman, Blade, and sometimes Spiderman & The Fantastic Four- I liked it's simplicity, it's a shame no one can do it justice on the big screen.

I respected a lot of the world building Marvel once had, that they've now destroyed. Namor and Thor wtf have they done to YOU!

I liked Dark Horse's Buffy The Vampire Slayer comics, they were better than the show tbh.

I liked Spawn and Witchblade from Image Comics.

I always had a soft spot for F4.

I am even currently rewatching the 1994 cartoon of it lmao.

DC is what i prefer reading, "Supergirl woman of tomorrow" (comic) is a masterpiece and that shitty film adaptation ruined it.

"Gotham central" is a must read if you like Gotham city and Batman, be aware though its from the POV of the GCPD and how they deal with the crazy villains that live in the city, Batman is in it but he's not the main focus and hes more of a background character with some extended cameos in some issues. Its told from a day and night shift perspective.

Highly recommend "Justice League: International" its a fun romp from the 80s with some lesser known DC JL members and i think James Gunns DC is gonna be heavily inspired by it, its also really funny!

"Green lantern" by Geoff Johns is a must read, arguably DC's best cosmic story line but also some of the best sci-fi you'll read, you get the Sinestro war, Blackest Night event etc.

Skybound's "Transformers" run by Daniel Warren Johnson is also a must read if you love transformers! Especially the first 24 issues which is what Johnson wrote. Its beautiful, cool and heartfelt with some of the best character work for Optimus, Starscream and Megatron.

Need to get into all of that, unfortunately, where I am from it's hard to get your hands on actual physical copies so it may take some time.

Can't imagine how they are with international, nevermind those who don't read English.

About 15 years ago I accidentally sold a huge box that contained Uncanny X-Men #175-281, X-Factor #1-30, New Mutants #1-45 (and the original GN) and various related shit like Messiah Complex. Got about $200, which covers like... the Gambit appearances lol. Almost gave up on comics entirely.

Could never really get into FF but the Flame On song from the cartoon has always been in my head

I'd have honestly preferred to have gotten these in English, but they were even harder to acquire. But yeah, we miss out on a lot.

X-Men are a great choice too. Among my faves as well. That's unlucky.


Really liked the cartoon back when I was a kid, read some stories later. Shame they never got a proper movie adaptation till the latest one tho.


I will say I still enjoy watching the first F4 movie tho.
