People dont understand this whole interaction, Zoro knows how to use acoc. what he does not know is that it is acoc and there comes the problem. Gaban himself said acoc is useless when you dont consciously use it, his point was on "CONSCIOUSLY" it does not mean Zoro cant controll it it means he is controlling it the wrong way. he simply now understood what it actually is which made him stronger.

also this makes sense, because Gaban himself did not know Zoro did not use his acoc the rigth way he only knew that after Zoro said "I can use Kings Haki?" which at this point Gaban knew that Zoro is applying his Haki wrong.
