Powers & Abilities Let‘s revive the good ol „will zoro open his right eye?“ theory

Since I think it would be really cool to see zoro open his eye with some kind of demon haki related Power and we basically got a gust of what route oda is taking with eyes and it’s powers kishimoto style I think it‘s not that much unlikely anymore for zoro to open the right eye.

Should I turn this into an bet thread? Or are these kind of threads kinda outdated?

I'm torn on that:
- On one hand it would be a cool moment. Unleashing some sort of power booster by opening his other eye.
- On the other hand it would mean fighting 2 Yonko and then fighting a Commander afterwards and nearly dying both times didn't warrant him using that boost in power. And that would be utter bs.

A compromise between the two I'd go for is that Mihawk gave him the scar in training -> it healed -> Mihawk taunted him or smt to keep it closed as a challange until they meet again -> He opens it when he stands in front of Mihawk

But the only proper explanation is that Oda wanted to spice up his appearance post time skip and scars are the easiest way to make anyone look cooler.

Well thats what I thought too but recently there are lot of similarities to naruto tbh
If there was some set up or precedent to zoro having special eye powers then maybe i'd hop on the wagon but there hasn't been any set up nor is there any reason to introduce something like that

It would have been way cooler and realistic if Zoro lost it/injured it badly vs King or Lucci. The SHP have fought Gods, Admirals, Prison Wardens, Special Races, Undefeated pirates, Shichibukai, Yonko, Supernovas, Super clones, Gorosei, King of the World, WSX, 10 vs 100.000 and yet the only remaining injuries in the entire series is Zoros scar vs Mihawk and Luffys scar vs Akainu. That's it.

How can the SHP face all these hurdles, get impaled, slashed, burned, bones broken, skulls bashed, heart stops, near bleed outs and what not with NO battle scars? All of them should have nice mementos of those they crossed paths with. Beginning with Zoro who should have a few scars from Buggy, Luffy catching a deep one from Crocodile and so on. A lot of them should have lost limbs or organs vs top opponents and the incredible Chopper/Franky/Vegapunk (Lilith) should have made them prostethic replacements or ointments/medicine but at least ever lasting scars or even dysfunctions that they have to learn to compensate for.

it's because scars in this series are meant to be meaningful and are usually given by someone who has a deep connection to the person they're scarring. i.e oden and kaido, teach and shanks, kuzan/sakazuki, etc.
this seems to be especially true for more prominent characters, so given that zoro is the deuteragonist and luffy is the mc, it makes sense they only got scars from people who are more prevalent in the story and aren't just a random villain they defeated like king or arlong

The title is incorrect, since it's Zoro's left eye that's scarred and closed. :zosleepy:

Anyway, I still believe in it happening. Why hasn't he used it yet, even against very powerful opponents such as Kaido and King? That could be justified if the eye power is only practical for a specific application; i.e., maybe it just wouldn't have changed the outcomes of those fights.

We know that in One Piece, it's Observation Haki that's intrinsically linked to the eyes, and my idea for Zoro's potential eye power leans in that direction.

that would be cool and it would make his fight with shiryu even better since iirc it's impossible to detect invisible people with observation haki
also, to all the people saying that his left eye not opening against kaido, big mom or king makes it unlikely to ever happen, keep in mind that shonen powerups in general have weird requirements for what awakens them, and often just rely on plot more than anything else
for example, sanji will likely unlock conq haki against killingham here, while he never did this in arcs like wci, enies lobby or baratie
these powers often only unlock when the author desires for them to, even when it would have made sense for them to come into play earlier than that.
