See, the thing is, hasn't Sommers already tagged Zoro in CQC? We see him react to, clash with and smack down King of Hell Zoro earlier in the fight, then when we cut back to the fight Sommers is hyper confident, and Zoro seems ro have taken damage and lost his face mask (while also getting "trapped" in the thorns). So he SHOULD be capable of tagging Zoro, its just that Oda (for some God forsaken reason) felt the need to kill any hype he got for that by having what is SEEMINGLY a weaker Zoro than the one Sommers was handling quite well immediately overwhelm him. Lol.
Rather than Omen Sommers being too weak to do ANYTHING to Zoro, it just feels like Oda is in too much of a rush to hype up his protagonists quickly without giving the villains time to really dominate and make the fight feel interesting when the protagonist inevitably turns the tables. Its also something I noticed he has been doing weirdly consistently with Celesiral Dragons. Perhaps his own personal bias for kicking the shit out of these scumbags is getting the better of him, so he doesn't let them win for too long. 😅
And I'm semi-serious about that. Remember in Egghead, rhat one volume cover where his initial drawing was of spider demon Saturn chasing down Bonney and Kuma, and then partway through the time lapse we see hum totally switch gears and make it much more wholesome?
