Let's be real this chapter completely killed the hakiman cope. Haki IS and has always been part of swordsmanship.

It’s better to say that using Haki isn’t restricted in a sword duel and sword skill with haki is still sword skill...

If some kind of fire-based DF coats your sword and enhances it, that’s still sword skill/sword technique.

Haki is simply the main power system post-TS so yeah, top tier swordsmen are almost if not entirely Haki based fighters.

But I still wouldn’t rule out Oda giving Shanks some kind of Haki based fighting style that doesn’t involve a sword as weird as that would sound right now.

Toriyama and Kishimoto Knew how to make Antagonist Quirky and Scary at the same time, Oda never mastered this skill……If a Villain is Quirky He Often Makes the Battle More about the Quirks and forgets that the Villain/Antagonist is supposed to be a threat.

Lommers was never supposed to be a threat to zoro though but haki training dummy
