Someone surely already talked about that (I don't read too much theories) but allow me to do it anyway. Do you remember this page of chapter 1192?
This Booming Dawn Kraken Gatling is the mix between Python:
Jet Gatling:
And Spaceout / Octopus fireworks:

Booming Dawn Kraken Gatling could simply be a white and awakened version of Python with all these attacks
BUT
When we look closer, we can see that Octopus fireworks is an unconscious attack. Meaning that it is done WITHOUT the control of Luffy.
At first sight, Python (from bound man or from Snake Man seems to show Luffy being in complete control.
BUT
Luffy is TALKING to his attack. That is something that I always wondered about... He is not just screaming and punching he is saying "keep chasing him Python". Technically, this is not unlike Luffy to do such a thing. Luffy is very expansive and outward expresses everything that is in his mind. So this might pass as normal, but this is very specific to this attack
It's like Luffy and Python were TWO DICTINCT entities. Which makes perfect sense that Luffy's evolution of Gear 4 is Snake Man... as the man who controls pythons. And this would also COMPLETELY explain why Katakuri couldn't predict Luffy's moves.
It was not his. But the one of his pythons !!! And if that hypothesis is true... then this would explain this page on chapter 1192.
Look closer:
This bubble in the panel at the center is suspicious. It could be Luffy talking, it could be the black balls... OR it could be the very arm of Luffy. If it was the black ball, the direciton of the bubble would be to the right. If it was Luffy, it could have been slightly upward, but the bubble is SPECIFICALLY on his arm.
There is something important to take into consideration with Octopuses:
On top of being flexible and unpredictible, they have a nervous system with a central main structure AND 8 more peripherical autonomous brains.
Which means that in the case of this attack and if my hypothesis is correct, The booming Dawn Kraken Gatling is not just creating unpredictible arms, but CONSCIOUS tentacular fist that can DODGE ON THEIR OWN.
This has fascinating implications:
- It explains Snake man as mentionned
- It explains Python
- It explains why Bound Man has only one python while Snake Man can create many. (it's a closer version to G5, which is also shown by the smoke which is thicker and the hair that are wigglers)
- It explain how Luffy can dodge ultra fast SENTIENT attacks like Imu > It's his arms evading.
- It could explain why Luffy fist are destroyed by the void shield oif Imu and why they are specifically showned bleeding afterward. It could be because the void instantly ereases traces of sentience from his own arm.
- It creates a direct parralel between Imu's attack and Luffy's power - both can create sentience, as I already hypothesize with the creation of Merry through the reality warping Bubble of power of the Hito Hito No mi Here :
But MOST OF ALL
It create a new potential form of power up. A creation of SENTIENT attacks, similar to Luffy. I love to say that Oda probably adored the Buu arc in Dragon Ball and I could clearly see Luffy take example from this :
Thematically, this would add a new form of weight, as Luffy would not only be free, would not only be a liberator, would not only be liberating his environment and surroundings... but would also be able to create pure freedom and liberate parts of his OWN body momentarily out of his own will and power.
I could see a move (not necessarily an attack) in the future be called :
"Booming Dawn Freedom Fireworks"

Luffy is like a thinking battery. Food recharge the battery and creation's deplete it. Frankly, it's a very simply power. Luffy has a lot of stamina and a lot of imagination, so he has a lot of rooms to create and express himself.
But to that Oda needs a cost and he seemed to have be smart with it : Luffy thinking process. Luffy is his OWN cost. His thinking limit and knowledge seems to be what prevents him to go pass his limits, the same way, it is also what allows him to go beyond.
To understand why that works, we have to understand how Luffy sees life : For him, nothing is just free, he knows that no matter how good he becomes, there is a cost to pay, either in training, or lifespan, or stamina. As such, his own it seems fair to think now that his own concept of struggle is what limits him and what unlocks him.
When Luffy's mindset considers that cost must be applied, cost will be applied:
When Luffy thinks that limits must be broken, limits will be broken:
Luffy is a very fair man with himself, he never thinks that he is worth more than he actually struggle to be. So this mindset seems to reflect in his power : Luffy will only grow alongside his own power, in synchronicity.
This is probably why the fruit chose Luffy after so long without awakening.. Probably because - and that is a theory - is sensed the unwillingness of Luffy to hold power for his own good. Luffy is selfless, he will only go beyond for those he loves and those who ask for help. I think this is why he still has room to grow, his next step will probably to understand this power and to learn to uses his creative energy effectively.
