First thing’s first, Shiryu must be awakened so that he can be given some extra powers. Yeah he’s had the clear-clear fruit for max 3-4 months but Oda didn’t say you can’t awaken in a few months so who knows.
Now with the awakened clear clear fruit something important can be addressed. This isn’t the invisibility fruit. It’s the “clear fruit”. Meaning technically the fruit can affect opacity at scale.
As in there is a very large gap between an object being perfectly opaque and perfectly invisible. The clear clear fruit can adjust how opaque an object is across this gap. Not just switching from “visible” to “invisible”. The object affected can stay in the middle.
Yes, this is the entire idea around Shiryu’s awakened Clear Clear fruit powers. He can adjust the opacity of anything in his vicinity, even the air.
And if you think this is a useless ability, let me remind you of the concept of Refraction.
The above is an example of what happens when an object is subjected to different opacities.
The water is LESS clear than the air and so you get this. Now imagine if Shiryu can do this with a SECTION of the air so that one part of the air is less visible than another part of the air. You would end up in a situation where nothing makes sense like this
And of course we can’t have Zoro just closing his eyes and sensing Shiryu with CoO so we can say Shiryu has someway of not being sensed with Observation.
Introducing refraction and partial opacity to Shiryu’s fruit seems outside of how Oda writes the technical nature of powers in his story so I’m not betting on this happening. But it’s quite literally the only thing I can imagine to make this fruit worth anything in the Zoro fight.
