Sure it’s universal but that’s what I’m getting at, If Zoro fights even Nusjuro the same shit will happen with Zoro magically being capable of slicing off his limbs like butter yet he somehow never manages to cut off the limbs of anyone he’s ever fought when thy are NOT immortal
He did sever one of King's wings, to note. Also, even series where it happens more...just sees them get good as new limbs. Like Deidara getting his arms sewn on back.

Wings aren’t limbs and this isnt my point

my point is that Zoro can any other immortal will be similar to this Sommers fight… maybe not as goofy with Sommers shouting non-stop but the idea that Zoro is gonna be cutting these guys to pieces will be a thing, no matter how strong they are, Oda will do this again

like how Holy knight Harald was much stronger than everyone he fought yet everyone was cutting him… Even his fodder guards were piercing him clean through

Yup, and even a physical blow shattered Saturn often. I suppose when you know you're invincible, it gives you a sense of natural arrogance. And World Nobles are very arrogant.

I can't think of a worse fight Zoro has had.

Even his FMI was more interesting, if only for the novelty of it being his first fight since the skip.

Uh, no? not even close?

Sommers is just hilariously entertaining/pathetic and we finally get to see Zoro have a retrospective and dive into his own power. The art is clean, there are no breaks or cutaways into other scenes inbetween and the choreography is neat. We also have never seen a Zoro fight where the sole purpose is for him to train. It's a cool set up fight for Zoro to fight Top Tiers in the future.

Why do people think this is his worst fight? Someone explain

Zoro vs Lucci was an abomination for example. Constant cutaways, breaks, no choreography, no one knows what Zoro is doing or using etc.

What do you mean the worst fight? It's hilarious!
Sommers, established creep & sadist, is yapping 2 chapters, while Zoro ignores him and just uses him as a practice dummy. Peak comedy, haven't laughed that hard on OP for months.

Off-panel Zoro vs Lucci is shit tho, especially since Luffy ALREADY defeated Lucci just a little bit earlier.

I would say Zoro vs Lucci stands out as even more shit. Negative choreography constant cuts to meaningless clashes, and just like 4 pages of fighting.

Sommers is at least entertaining, Lucci didn't really play off Zoro at all

Zoro vs Lucci isn't a real fight. It was just something happening in the background of the arc. It's like calling kizaru and marcos clash a fight

I don't disagree but meh regardless.

If we're only counting real fights I still find it preferable to Zoro vs the fishmen guy, just because of Sommers' personality

The Lucci fight sucked, but it gave you no reason to think less of Lucci. He was competitive and still standing when it ended.

Sommers is an entertaining villain because he's so expressive, and I didn't need him to be super powerful, but as far as the fight goes, I don't know what's less engaging than his constant terror and ineptitude. Dude was established as a punching bag before it even began. The only good moment had was blocking Dragon Damnation, and it was straight back to this goofy shit.

The Lucci fight at least had the tension of him tying up Zoro, preventing him escaping earlier or going to help his crew. There was a race against time element that could be felt.

The Sommers fight has 0 tension. It's just a tick box for Zoro learning aCoC, and no one really anticipates Zoro to do anything interest afterwards. Maybe it'd be different if it happened in a context where Zoro is trying to get to Luffy, but Sommers is standing in the way.
