As someone who thinks Oda and One Piece fell off a giant cliff, I don't hate it.
It's definitely disappointing that Zoro doesn't seem to be getting something entirely new, but it fixes a couple things from the King fight in my opinion.
In Wano Zoro never officially acknowledged his own conqueror's haki. His usage of CoC was basically a happy accident that came with taming Enma. It was ambiguous at best whether or not he even knew he HAD CoC (turns out he didn't know) even after King posed the question about ambition.
Not only that, but it was hard to believe that Zoro just knew how to use CoC coating whenever he felt like it just from what he learned against King and in Wano overall.
Would it have made more sense to have this development IN Wano? Yeah, but in my opinion this is better than just completely glossing over it and never having Zoro explore the concept formally.
