As the title implies, I believe Sanji is about to awaken a darker, evil version of himself.
The earliest clue of this appeared in Wano. In Chapter 1031, Sanji encounters the geisha Osome and finds her injured. The other geishas immediately assume he is the attacker, since the two of them were alone in the room.
Sanji himself cannot deny it with certainty as he had been running while deep in thought, and the next thing he knew, Osome was on the ground, bleeding and looking at him in fear. With a clear gap in his memory, he is left unsure whether he might actually have been responsible.
Then, in Chapter 1034, Queen appears and remarks that Osome has rejected his invitations multiple times, including that very day, using a migraine as her excuse.
The moment Sanji sees Queen near the injured Osome, he jumps to a new conclusion: Queen must have been the one who struck her. Furious, he intervenes to protect her.
Here is the problem with that sequence. If Queen had attacked Osome, the timeline would look like this: Queen hits her → later invites her again → Osome refuses, citing a migraine. That explanation does not hold up. A head injury would be a far more logical reason for turning him down than a simple migraine. The same inconsistency exists no matter who the real attacker was. The only scenario that makes sense is if the migraine conversation happened before Osome was struck. In that case, the suspect shifts back to Sanji.
This is the foundation of the theory. Throughout the Wano arc, Sanji displayed clear signs that his Germa modifications were awakening: the activation of his exoskeleton, the surge in superhuman strength and regenerative ability, and the further evolution of his flames. Most telling of all, his eyebrows temporarily shifted to match the style of his brothers. Those same brothers, as a direct result of their Germa enhancements, became cold and utterly ruthless.
So if Sanji has unlocked the same genetic modifications, it is entirely possible that he carries the same latent capacity for an evil, ruthless personality.
I believe this side of him will surface when he is forced to push both body and mind beyond their absolute limits. Elbaf is the ideal stage for that breakthrough especially now, while he is struggling against Killingham’s immortality and facing the Rain God MMA fighter Zaza, whom he currently refuses to strike simply because she is a woman.
When that moment arrives, Sanji will awaken his evil counterpart. This version will be merciless. It will have no hesitation about fighting Zaza, and it will inherit the kingly ambition that runs through the Vinsmoke bloodline—the lineage of royalty and conquerors. That ambition will finally allow him to awaken Conqueror’s Haki and end Killingham once and for all.
However, there is another important factor: Sanji’s older sister, Reiju. Like her brothers, she also underwent Germa modifications, yet she retained her kindness and compassion. This shows that the modifications do not inevitably erase a person’s humanity.
Because of this, I believe that while Sanji may awaken a ruthless side of his but it will only be temporary. He will eventually follow the same path as Reiju later in the story. He will fully master and unleash his full Germa abilities while still keeping his kind and chivalrous personality intact.
