The brandolini law applies here, it take a lot more time to debunk bs than create it.

I already proved false some of the dumb takes about powerscaling elsewhere. Check what I said about the entire basis for the Mihawk fraud agenda for ex. But I can't do it in a general sense, got to take it on a case to case basis.

But mainly there is a big principle that people forget which creates all these BS takes: Characters are human beings. A character which power system and actions are absolutely consistant is a machine, and even then, this would still be bad storytelling. Mind, characters, journey, mental afflictions, stress, strenghts, stamina, there are hundreds of parameters that influences the actions of a character.

Problem: Most people are blind to the deepest layer of characterization that is central to characters in One Piece and as such, they use too few parameters to powerscale the story

He can't and that what's quite amusing to be honest.

All that he ever comes up with are semi-intellectual paragraphs tailored to sound educated in the ears of naive readers, while in fact it's a lot of pretty basic nonsense without any kind of substance.

But it's fun and keeps the thread alive, so a win-win for me!

No worries, it's not like anyone takes you seriously either, so welcome to my boat I guess.

What I'm saying about One Piece is pretty basic and quite simplified. If it sounds intellectual to you, maybe you should ask yourself one or two questions

Not much wrong with Marineford even from a powerscaling perspective

Whitebeard was still strong even as an old man and even without CoC, his Devil Fruit is broken and is unchanged despite him being weakened

All the Admirals went toe to toe with Whitebeard at some point whilst holding back and would probably beat him in longer one on one fights

Commanders being able to face top tiers without being instantly obliterated is just a feat for those commanders, you don't need to give those feats to every commander for no reason. There's nothing inconsistent about this

Since I see you're in need of some education here, of course I will help out:

"Definition of 'semi-intellectual':
A 'semi-intellectual' refers to a person who possesses intellectual interests, inclinations, or pretentiousness, without, however, attaining the depth, comprehensive knowledge, or critical rigor of a true intellectual."

No need to thank me!

It seems like you didn't read the original post, since you're talking about sth else entirely. But no worries, you still got time to read it!

You are correct that in hindsight it seems like most of the top tiers barely did anything but I think that was true even back then

Sengoku did like two things in that arc, and Garp didn't do anything at all

Mihawk put in a mediocre shift just to say he had done something and was more interested in testing Luffy

Kizaru was trolling

Kuzan was chilling

The only two who you could say were busting ass were Whitebeard and Akainu, and even with Akainu he was restraining himself from nuking the whole island and turning it into a volcanic wasteland

You know.. Using "semi-intellectual rethoric" seriously in front of basic, simple and factual statement such as "take into consideration the narrative context and characterizations" is not really a sign of understanding. Rather a primal form of anti-intellectualism. Something you really don't want to fall into mate.

I did, you complained about inconsistancies while ignoring the narrative context (an impending execution) and the stress that creates such context on top of overestimating the players at play (the whitebeard Pirates were weaker than the average yonko crew, demonstrated by Ace's bounty) and you are blind to the fact that most characters outside of the whitebeard Pirate didn't even try.

Whitebeard got blinded by his pride. It was a suicidal mission, Shanks knew it and try to warn him about it. They got lucky that Luffy brought reenforcement. They were already doomned.

As for high level haki, most character were too weak to use it or simply didn't have reason to. (especially the admiral for whom this was a walk in the park)

Honey, you didn't seem to realize that the second quote wasn't even an answer to you, it was an answer to someone else's post.

But no worries, stuff like that can happen.

Didnt Boa sisters had CoO?... Didnt the crew of Lucci had CoO?

I mean, CoO can help you see, but you still can be faster and speedblitz. And not all pirates at New World are great as Katakuri.

Alabasta Croco has an explanation.
Yes that's precisely what I'm talking about.
If haki is being used but we can't see it, we need to assume Luffy started the series with YC/vice admiral tier physical attributes. He can speedblitz perception haki of a ton of characters of that level. Which makes characters like CP9, blatantly overpowering them at water 7, extremely impressive.

i dont know if YC/Vice admiral physical tier levels... But he indeed was underestimated.

Dude defeated Kuro with ease, and he was a Veteran with low bounty. Luffy didnt really struggle as much as people think he did, he overwhelmed his opponent by margin in paradise world, there was exceptions as Logias of course. But look at Ace, dude became Commander pretty fast and didnt have a fruit for that long, while Luffy did.
