DCEU: Lanterns (HBO Max)

I'm of the opinion that "True Detective style" is pure nonsense, because it doesn't work with Green Lantern. Wanna make of a buddy cop with Green Lantern? Ok. Wanna make a True Detective Green Lantern? Nonsense. It's too grounded and too out of what GL concept is.

They could have made a Question TV show inspired in True Detective, but no, let's be idiot and use literal cosmic heroes because.....why not? Lol

Now, you have larpers on Internet, who literally know shit about what they're talking, glazing this show with the issue this is much better because a comic accurate Green Lantern production would be too goofy and expensive.

Yup that's exactly my point.

This series can work if it's not named Lanterns and inspired by Green Lantern the fooken superhero.

Replace the ring with some magical artifact and give it another name and you have a solid mystery series.

But it doesn't work for Green Lantern.

We wanna see the ring, the constructs, the cool scenes, etc. That's what superhero shows should be. I am not interested in watching how Clark Kent spends his day at the Daily Planet for an entire season with 2 minutes of the supe costume and his flying.

I thought it was a great show, but not a great Green Lantern show.

It so clearly seemed like it was written for Martian Manhunter in mind as it felt more like one of his classic comic story lines, replace the Manhunter with a White Martian and it would’ve honestly blended pretty well.

Felt like the Green Lantern aspect was more created for name recognition than actual plot design.

Landing I get what they were going for but definitely could’ve been better…
