Before Wano, every character that showed to unlock CoC, such as Luffy, Ace or Doffy, did it under extreme and desperate circumstances, and then Oda just skipped that for Zoros, while also ruining the surprise for Sanji by literally have gaban tell him what he needs to unlock it lol.

Zoro unlocked in on the rooftop in extreme situation where his captain was about to get killed by kaido on the rooftop. I have no idea by people gloss over this

I still find Gaban's explanation to be a shitty one tbh

If we being real Sanji should be > Zoro if he’s getting le self love boost + acoc on top of their current power gap
but he’ll stay below him
Really puts into perspective how useless powerscaling is, only the strongest can keep on doing it just for the love of the game..knowing it changes nothing

The anime showed that Zoro already unlocked it beforehand when he knocked out the beast pirates at the party while Zoro was undercover, unless that's explicitly Toei's doing and non canon, then it's a shitty execution of the reveal imo

Its weird since im sanjis dream zoro told him "believe in yourself ". So this entire time he always felt lesser than zoro, luffy and any one strong that he face. Him being weak was probably why he was always self sacrificing apparently which is silly

I also appreciate how Oda made Zoro and Sanji unlock it differently.

Zoro's unlock was more of a "SURPRISE, IT'S THIS CHAPTER!" thing. People knew it was coming, but we didnt know exactly when.

Sanji follows a more guided path. We actually know it's coming during this fight, so it's more about building up the payoff.
