Current Events Sanji is the most relatable character for teenage readers

#1
As we know,One Piece is a Shonen manga,so its target audience should be teenager readers, altough,as it is a very old manga,it also has many older readers, who grew up with the manga.
But,Oda often stated that he still writes the manga with a 'young boys' audience in mind, altough, who knows if thats true or not.

By the way,if we think about it,altough teenage readers surely love Zoro and him being a badass,i think they can also relate a lot with Sanji. Lets see,how are teenagers usually?

-Horny as hell (Like Sanji)
-They often argue with their parents and act rebellious (Sanji hates his biological father Judge, and altough he cares about his "real father" Zeff, they had a kind of dynamic where they often argued with each other)
-Sometimes they get discriminated (Like Sanji was discriminated by his brothers)
-Everyday they find out something new about theirselves (And Sanji is probably the Strawhat that discovered things about himself the most in the post-timeskip)

So i think that, altough the teenage boys surely adore Zoro and see him as a role-model of physical and mental strenght, and they can also like Luffy and see him as a "funny friend" who takes you out of your comfort-zone,Sanji is probably the character more "relatable" between the three of them. Sometimes he feel like a loser, something he feel cool, like many people, also in adult life

Teenagers spend enough time "self loving" as is, without Oda's advice.
Idk, Teenagers got deep insecurities and inferiority complex issues

Statistically, there should be atleast one teen in Japan right now that is suffering with these issues and realizes they need to overcome it,
So that they too could become a "Conqueror* like Sanji.

Good post! I've been checking forums and reactions, and there are quite a lot of comments like "I feel like Sanji is me", and it's a really good life advice from Ivankov, honestly. Damn it, I am 38 and I can relate to 21-year old Sanji because I tend to doubt myself a lot.

Yeah I also hate myself like Sanji
Listen to ivankov pleass:sweat:
Yes, @zzShinichi, listen to Iva. We all are flawed. It's fine. You don't have to be perfect to love yourself. You are the most important person in your life, really.

"Not even Sanji likes Sanji"

"A character for people who hate themselves"

These are my two favorites

It's funny because I always thought it was Zoro the character a teenager sees in himself. Only when you grow up you start to appreciate Sanji more and more.

All the zoroaches here are fuming like kids. Yeah, just like the Zoro typical fanbase age. Strange uh? :BigW:
Don't let these jokes bother you so much honestly lol

The thing is, that Zoro is that perfect north star some people would like to be, but are not there yet.
Idk, I always found Sanji more interesting out of the two, ever since I've started reading the manga when I was 17. Zoro always inspired me as a cool bro with his determination, but I couldn't relate to him. Not that I related that much to Sanji either at that time, but he sparked my interest the most out of all SH.
It's also interesting that in the beginning, I used to appreciate Nami more than Robin, but once I started to be closer in the age to Robin than to Nami, my "fav SHP" placement switched for these two.

The characters don't ask you to choose between them, we as readers do that on our own. This is why the Ninja Turtles became so popular, because the marketers (moreso than the creators, even) understood that each turtle could represent the same person in different facets

Yes, I agree. There are characters we find inspiring, there are characters we can relate to, there are characters we simply like.
In this regard, OP is successful because there are so many likeable characters, and there's someone for everyone to like.
