Wtf is this theory, get this fodder out of here 😂😂
For someone to replace Imu, they have to be a threat even greater than Imu. Garling was negged by Imu’s slave. Nerfed Imu’s haki is even greater than DR Xebec’s haki, Gaban directly implied it. Even without a power, he’d easily destroy Garling lol

Only two people can replace Imu… Blackbeard, or some other primordial threat yet to be introduced.

Power levels are less important than story beats, in this case there's no in story reason for Garling to kill the man who gives him insane wealth, immortality, power etc. We'd also have to assume the Gorosei are all....not going to try protecting Imu?
This is true the concept of an underling killing his boss even if its a bad idea, never really happens, this is such inhuman thing
How did you become so smart?

Usually the subordinates that kill the boss aren't like 50 years old killing their 800+ year old boss who gives them promotions, Immortality, saves their life in a flashback we've seen pretty recently, and they'd have some sort of ideological disagreement.

You could make a better case for Shiryu killing Teach than this one

I believe all the build up of Garling won't be the end of him becoming a Gorosei. He wanted more than that, maybe ultimate power.

Holy Land was in chaos even with the presences of God's Knights. But the situation immediately shifted when Shamrock back in charge.

He has his son getting the entire Holy Land under control, nobody else can achieve that.

He gets cocky on the other Gorosei after being promoted and even patronizing their decision. He definitely view himself highly than them.

We did get a slight hint that Garling could betray Imu, since he was shown as one the the Twelve candidates to claim the One Piece for themselves.
That's not what that panel represents.

Garling didn't take immediate advantage of Saturn's demotion. Garling was next in line and Imu decided to replace Saturn with him. This is Imu's doing, not Garling's agency.

Ambition, not in the sense of Haki (which he will surely possess at exceptional levels), but rather his desire to climb the ranks, to win, to excel. As a young Knight of God he discovered the Davy clan in God Valley and immediately took advantage of it to gain points with the Great One. He entered the Native Hunting Competition with the explicit, single-minded desire to prevail over all. In the following decades he became Commander and led the Knights of God, even reaching the rank of Supreme Commander. Then, as soon as the opportunity presented itself, he took the promotion to Elder Star and quickly positioned himself as the most loyal and effective, even at the risk of alienating his peers.
"He took the promotion to Elder Star"... huh?? He was the next strongest after the Gorosei aka next in line. You think Imu is giving out options to who can be Gorosei? Garling has no agency in if he can or will become Gorosei. Imu wanted to replace Saturn so he picked the next in line.

"Most loyal and effective"... based on what exactly? Other Gorosei have factually accomplished more than him. The man has yet to accomplish anything as a Gorosei. What is he being effective in?
