General & Others Egghead Luffy conquerors and advanced haki

#1
Luffy fought Lucci, s-bear, Kizaru, and multiple gorosei during egghead but for some reason he didn’t really use conquerors haki at all. Basically getting the big mom treatment that arc and seemingly forgetting he can use it besides maybe a single random occasion

I found every panel during the arc where black lightning comes out while he’s attacking and only got 3 results. Some if not all of them are potentially just armament haki

1. Out of the 3 examples do you think any of them are infused with conquerors?

2. Do you think he was using other advanced haki like future observation or internal armament?

He was using it as far as I'm concerned.

If a character has a powerup that could win him a fight and he does not use it despite having no reason not to, then that's either bad writing or a serious IQ nerf.

The reason we did not see black lightning spam imo is because EH was not focused so much on fights (majority of Kizaru vs Luffy was offscreened) and because Oda is inconsistent with drawing indicators.

I could allow for Luffy not using conk IF he was given some clear context for not using it.... or if there was any indication that he was not fighting at his best.....

....you know, like someone saying that his performance was "more sluggish than usual"...... or the story showing that he did not want to beat his opponents to the point of secretly feeding them.

But I don't recall Luffy getting any such narrative so yeah, no reason for him to not use advanced haki.

We know factually that Luffy wasn’t using internal armament + conquerors tho because that would lead to the whole no touch thing

We also know that the gorosei had no trouble instantly regenerating against Luffy’s attacks just like everyone else’s which is another indication of it not being used

As for why he wasn’t using it idk but the same happened to big mom during Wano

I'm going to chalk this up to Oda being inconsistent with indicators frankly.

Besides I distinctly recall Luffy being mad that he couldn't scratch the Goros

That doesn't mean he didn't use it though? Just that it wasn't at a high enough mastery yet to seriously harm them.

At least that is what I understood so far. I could be wrong.

BM not using it is also dubious to me. Wasn't she sacrificing her lifespan just to fight? Why do that if acoc would have been enough?

Again this really comes down to Oda's inconsistencies imho. Either that or we gotta start including dementia and poor BIQ as a trait for acoc users considering how often they seem to forget to use their strongest buff.

Last chapter literally etablished COC can be used without visual indicators.
>inb4 Sanji wasn't fully mastering/aware of his COC yet
Don't matter, his hits were coated in it as Killingham regen was slowed down. I said before that Oda sometimes only draw haki trails when he wants to emphasize the strenght of a hit. From now I assume any confirmed advCOC user is always using at least a little of it if a in a serious fight. Otherwise we have to believe Luffy isn't using COC half of the time against Imu despite literally agreeing with Gaban about using conqueror to deal with these guys

Oda is definitely inconsistent when it comes to characters usage of haki but he is consistent off highlighting their usage of it

External armament + conquerors infusion was given a visual indication that being no touch. We know for a fact that it wasn’t used in egghead

We were also explicitly told that conquerors would make regeneration slower. Something we know didn’t happen when Luffy was punching the gorosei. Hell the reason Luffy couldn’t hurt warcury at all was 100% because he’s coated in omen and the only way to get past that is also conquerors

As for why he of big mom wasn’t using it idk it’s definitely dumb on oda’s end. It’s like why didn’t Luffy use gear stacking prior to onigashima despite us knowing it’s something he was capable of back in thriller bark. Idk and it makes no sense but it lets Oda hold Luffy back

Kinda off topic but is imu running out of maki/omen juice?
I kinda noticed from your panels that he increasingly blocks with hands the further the fight progress instead with omen

He didn't use it once since Wano. I think there is a point to it. Everyone also thought that Zoro was using ACoC in his fight with Lucci and that "Oda was just inconsistent". I think at this point there is no way Oda forgot to draw proper lightning 30 times in a row. Oda consistently does NOT draw lightning for Luffy and does for EVERYONE ELSE.

No he didn’t maybe against Kizaru only
But against Gorosei not at all even more when it’s established ACoC slow down their regeneration

It’s just Oda who want to keep some tension in the arc it’s dumb but not the first time

He's not even using future sight consistently
