Chapter Discussion Shanks coming back to Elbaph?

#23
I’ve been saying this, yes. But it’s weird because he literally just left Elbaph only to come right back? Lolda is stupid
Zunisha only came to Wano to be JB's cheerleader, then fucked right off without doing anything. And that's a giant elephant we're talking about.

Shanks has been shown to move around impressively quick. I can see Oda removing him from Elbaf so the plot with Loki and the kids can happen, but as IMU and Nika become too destructive, Red Hair could return as a stabilizer of odds. That way the remnants of the Roger Pirates would be mediating between the old system (IMU) and the new rebellious counterforce (SHs).

He will conveniently appear only AFTER Imu leaves :suresure:
Shanks: "Damn it, so close! Truly a blunder! If only I was here sooner!

Lucky Roux: "But Boss, that girl from the bar called us the second things started to happen and we took the long way he--"

Shanks: "ANYWAY AS I WAS SAYING IT IS SUCH A TRAGEDY! IF ONLY I WAS HERE I COULD HAVE STOPPED IT SINGLE-HANDEDLY! TOTALLY!"

Yasopp, whispering to Roux: "Let it go, man. He's doing that thing he does with Blackbeard every couple months, where he goes and waits in a place he knows the fat fuck isn't going to be just so he can bemoan the fact that he didn't run into him and run the fade. Just let him do his performance so we can get to the part where we all party. You KNOW he is always more generous after these speeches. Especially if nobody questions him about why he doesn't just pull up on his enemies in their home base if stopping them were so easy."

Shanks:

Act 1 Elbaf promised us:
- that Loki will tell Luffy about Shanks;
- that Loki will take out any pirate crew on Luffy's behalf;
- that Gaban will tell the SHs something important for their journey to Lodestar.

I think Oda will only follow through on the last point. The first two were bargaining chips that Loki used to try to convince Luffy to free him. Ultimately, they struck no deal, and Loki was unchained because of the HKs kidnapping plot and after Harald's sob story.
No, this promise was more important

It seems to me that Gaban has never once mentioned Lodestar

Which chapter did you get that from ?

No, he didn't mention Lodestar directly. That was my interpretation.

Since he knows the SHs are headed to LT, and Lodestar is a necessary stop before it, I take this to mean that Gaban will advise them on navigation matters over there.

Yes, indeed, there will be a meeting between Gaban and the Straw Hat crew at the end of Elbaf, good point

And we will likely talk there about the next island Lodestar, but that will not be the only topic of discussion during the meeting

A bit like Garp at Water Seven, or Rayleigh at Sabaody

Which tramples Loki's promise to tell Luffy about Shanks' whereabouts unless:
- Shanks himself comes to Elbaf, making Loki's knowledge useless;
- Shanks is on the route to Lodestar;
- we have a little detour to Shanks' place before Lodestar, which I find highly improbable at this point in the story.

If we use a process of elimination to identify the possible locations where he might be found

Bearing in mind that the Revolutionary Army has already launched an assault on Mary Geoise, involving spies from the Blackbeard crew (making Shanks's presence unnecessary to the story, in my opinion)

that Laugh Tale must remain an opaque mystery until we reach the man with the burn scar

I don’t see any other place where Lodestar or Shanks could be

As for why Shanks, when he arrived several days ago (around the time he defeated Kid) told Loki that he wanted to go over there and what exactly he intends to do once he arrives, well I don’t know
