@ShishioIsBack, @Admiral Lee Hung I agree that so far COC hasn't been useful in one on one fights against fighters close in ability to each other. However, it has remained a pretty robust mechanism as an indicator of potential. It is still the rarest form of haki, and those who make a name for themselves usually possess it. It marks out those destined for greatness.

Ceteris Paribus, given two fighters on the same level where only one of them has COC, the benefit of the doubt should go to the one with COC. The conqueror should have greater potential than the non conqueror and so is likely to triumph in the fight.

* By far the weakest bounty (there's no good excuse for this).
* The person that defeated him was low diffed by a top tier.
* The Meme pirates have been member for member significantly inferior to the Beast Pirates. Jack's portrayal shits on Cracker's for example.

I feel that what Kata has in his favour is not enough to outweigh what he has against him. I do acknowledge that he could be stronger than King though.

@Admiral Lee Hung: I think he's much stronger than Apoo and Oda just wanted to depict a hype scene. Luffy getting screwed by much weaker opponents with hax abilities is nothing new (e.g. vs Caesar).

It was luck, because luffy chose to stop attacking him. And it was a free hit because Kaido has yet to demonstrate that he can actually get a hit in when luffy isn’t attacking him.
