TheAncientCenturionThese aren't arguments Lee. The fact Katakuri was so respected by everyone, bar maybe Brulee and Perospero, is meant to inform us on the contents of his character than strength. Whereas King's relationship with the Beast Pirates reflects their inner nature too, opportunistic and willing to tear each other down. Kind of like how Rox was described.
Elder Lee HungThey only respect Katakuri because of his strength though. And they only disrespect king because they think they are close to him in power (I assume?) they only respect Kaido because he is strong.
TheAncientCenturionThey respect Katakuri for his persona, which involves strength and being this image we know he's not. Besides, you're falling into the same trap as Ndule with this logic of applying 1 Yonko crews relationships to another's. The Beast Pirates are all about pushing forward up until Kaido, which is a wall. King? He's strong, but he's not Kaido. He's objectively a more realistic goal.
HA001When someone spits in his face and cusses king like flamp did then talk.
Kata was built up with most of the family not even seeing his face.
King has kept the highest rank under kaido for more than 2 decades despite anyone being allowed challenge him for it.
Cinera@Admiral Lee Hung: it's not a persuasive argument. The Big Mom Pirates have a very different relationship than the Beast Pirates do. The situations aren't comparable. Besides, Jack has already demonstrated his deference to King (and Queen).
Cinera@Admiral Lee Hung, @TheAncientCenturion: the one argument that I find persuasive that relies on crew relationships is that Queen (Smoothie's analogue) hasn't been portrayed as significantly weaker than King. In fact, the Jack scene see!ed to suggest that Queen was closer to King than to Jack, while Smoothie seems closer to Cracker than to Katakuri. We'll see if their bounties support this notion.
